
Saudi Arabia and the UAE have officially declared March 30, 2025, as the first day of Eidul Fitr following the sighting of the Shawwal moon. Other Gulf nations, including Kuwait and Qatar, have also announced the same date for the festival, marking the end of Ramadan.
Moon Sighting Confirms Eid Date
Saudi Arabia’s moon-sighting committee convened after Maghrib prayers and confirmed the sighting of the new moon, signaling the end of Ramadan after 29 days of fasting. The Saudi royal court then announced that Sunday, March 30, would be the first day of Shawwal.
Similarly, in the UAE, the Moon-sighting Committee, led by Minister of Justice Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, used Sharia methods and consulted regional observations before confirming the crescent’s visibility.

Eid Prayers Across the Gulf With over 19,000 mosques and prayer areas across Saudi Arabia, Eid prayers will take place on Sunday morning, shortly after sunrise. Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Alsheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, has instructed authorities to ensure smooth prayer arrangements.
In the UAE, leaders, including President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, extended warm Eid greetings to citizens and Muslims worldwide.
Eid Dates in Other Countries
Following Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar have also confirmed that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on March 30, with March 29 being the last day of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday to determine the official date for Eid. The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that Eidul Fitr will likely fall on March 31, with the Shawwal crescent expected to be visible on March 30. The government has already declared March 31 to April 2 as public holidays for the occasion.
