Islamabad – April 11, 2025: At a powerful National Palestine Conference in Islamabad, Mufti Munib Ur Rehman, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Saad Rizvi, and several leading Islamic scholars from across Pakistan declared that military jihad against Israel is now an obligatory duty for all Muslim governments.

The historic gathering brought together influential voices who strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and called for direct, united Muslim intervention. Their declaration wasn’t symbolic. It was a religious ruling—a fatwa—urging Muslim states to act militarily.

Mufti Munib Ur Rehman: “This Is Not the Time for Silence”

Mufti Munib, a former head of Pakistan’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and one of the country’s most senior religious figures, gave a fiery and emotional speech. He criticized the complete silence and diplomatic paralysis of Muslim rulers.

“How long will Muslim governments stay silent while the oppressed cry for help?” he asked.

He said supporting the oppressed of Palestine is not just a political duty, but a religious obligation.

“Enough with the condemnations and conferences. Now is the time for practical jihad. If not now, then when?”

He emphasized that Israel’s actions in Gaza qualify as open oppression, murder, and tyranny, and that Islam does not allow silence in such times.

“If Muslim countries do not use their armies now, what are they saving them for? The defense of Al-Aqsa is not just Palestine’s responsibility—it’s the ummah’s collective duty,” he thundered.

Mufti Munib also called for national unity, stating that sectarian or political differences must be set aside in the face of Zionist aggression.

“Our unity is our power. We must act as one nation, one ummah, to stop this genocide.”

Formal Fatwa Declares Jihad Mandatory

The conference concluded with an official declaration, signed by dozens of Pakistan’s top scholars. It confirmed that:

“Military jihad against Israel is not optional. It is fard (obligatory) upon all Muslim governments to protect Al-Aqsa and liberate Palestine.”

This statement, delivered publicly at the end of the conference, carried religious weight. The scholars called on Muslim rulers to take practical action, including military, economic, and political measures.

Taqi Usmani: “We Have Done Nothing Except Talk”

Mufti Taqi Usmani, another towering Islamic scholar, also addressed the audience. He criticized the lack of real support from Muslim nations.

“We sat here a year ago in solidarity with Palestine. Since then, we have done nothing but hold more conferences.”

He echoed Mufti Munib’s call for immediate jihad, adding:

“Those going for Umrah should instead spend that money to support the Palestinian resistance. Now is not the time for luxury pilgrimages. Now is the time for sacrifice.”

He also reminded the audience of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s stance on Israel.

“The founder of Pakistan called Israel illegitimate. We will not accept Israel’s existence—no matter how strong it becomes.”

Saad Rizvi Joins the Call

TLP chief Saad Rizvi also voiced strong support for the fatwa. He said it was time to “wake the Muslim world from its slumber.” Rizvi warned that empty statements and UN resolutions would not save innocent Palestinians.

“If Muslim nations still fail to act, then the people will rise. We will not watch in silence while Gaza burns.”

Global Muslim Pressure Mounts

Just days before this conference, Ali al-Qaradaghi, secretary general of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, also called on Muslim governments to intervene militarily.

His statement, co-signed by 14 other Muslim scholars, urged leaders to review all peace treaties with Israel and support Palestinians with “action, not just words.”

It also called on Muslims in the U.S. to pressure President Donald Trump to fulfill promises to curb Israeli aggression.

Egypt’s Grand Mufti Pushes Back

However, the call for jihad has faced opposition from some parts of the Muslim world.

Egypt’s Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad rejected the Pakistani fatwa, calling it “irresponsible and dangerous.”

“Only a recognized state authority has the right to declare jihad,” he said.

Ayyad warned that unauthorized fatwas could harm regional stability and backfire by causing more destruction for Palestinians.

“Support for Palestine must be strategic and lawful, not reckless,” he added.

Pakistan’s Next Move Under Scrutiny

The conference placed intense pressure on the Pakistani government. Scholars and citizens alike are now watching how the state will respond to this sweeping fatwa.

Mufti Munib urged Pakistani leaders to remember their ideological roots and Islamic identity.

“Jinnah built this country so we could defend Islam and oppressed Muslims. If we do not act now, we have betrayed his vision.”

Scholars Unite, Action Demanded

Thursday’s conference marked a turning point. For the first time in recent memory, all major religious schools of thought in Pakistan issued a joint fatwa for jihad against Israel. The declaration wasn’t just spiritual—it was political and strategic.

Mufti Munib Ur Rehman’s voice echoed loudest, urging unity, courage, and sacrifice.

“History will ask: What did we do when Gaza cried for help? Let our answer be: We rose with courage, not cowardice.”

The world waits to see whether this fatwa will ignite real action—or join the many forgotten statements of the past.
