Pakistan Women’s cricket team has officially booked their ticket to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 after a resounding 87-run win over Thailand in the qualifier held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. With this fourth consecutive victory, Pakistan not only secured qualification but also made a strong statement ahead of the major tournament to be hosted in India later this year.

Solid Start with the Bat

Electing to bat first, Pakistan posted a respectable total of 205 for 6 in their 50 overs. The innings was anchored by opener Sidra Amin, who played a steady hand with an 80-run knock. Her innings included nine boundaries and came off 105 balls, providing much-needed stability after a shaky start.

Pakistan’s top order struggled early on. Shawaal Zulfiqar (6), Muneeba Ali (18), Aliya Riaz (7), and Sidra Nawaz (11) departed cheaply, leaving the team at a vulnerable 85 for 4. However, Sidra Amin found a reliable partner in captain Fatima Sana, and the two turned the tide with a game-changing partnership.

Captain Leads from the Front

Fatima Sana, leading from the front, delivered a captain’s knock. She remained unbeaten on 62 off just 59 balls, striking six boundaries and a powerful six. Her aggressive approach in the final overs lifted Pakistan past the 200-run mark and gave the team a defendable total.

Thailand’s bowling unit showed discipline for much of the innings. Thipatcha Putthawong impressed with figures of 2 for 26, while Sornnarin Tippoch and Onnicha Kamchomphu also picked up a wicket each. However, they couldn’t stop the late flourish from Fatima Sana.

Bowling Attack Crushes Thailand’s Chase

Thailand’s chase never truly got going. Pakistan’s bowlers kept tight lines and maintained pressure throughout. Fatima Sana continued her dominance with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs in her 8-over spell.

Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu and off-spinner Rameen Shamim matched her impact, taking three wickets each and dismantling Thailand’s batting order with ease. The Thai side folded for just 118 in 34.4 overs.

Only Nannapat Koncharoenkai showed some resistance, top-scoring with 19. Three other batters managed to reach double digits, but none could build momentum or partnerships. Wickets fell at regular intervals, ensuring Thailand remained out of the contest.

Momentum Builds Ahead of the Mega Event

This comprehensive win not only confirmed Pakistan’s place in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 but also highlighted their growing confidence. In conclusion With four consecutive wins in the qualifiers, the team appears well-prepared for the global stage. Fatima Sana’s all-round brilliance and strong support from the bowling unit underline Pakistan’s potential to make a serious impact in the upcoming tournament.
