Islamabad United continued their unstoppable run in PSL 10 with a powerful performance against Multan Sultans, clinching their fifth straight win of the tournament. The 13th match, played at Multan Cricket Stadium, saw United chase down a target of 169 with ease, winning by seven wickets and 17 balls to spare.

Strong Start to the Chase

Islamabad United got off to a rapid start as Sahibzada Farhan launched an early assault. He scored 22 runs off just 13 balls, including three boundaries and a six. His aggressive batting, especially the 16 runs off Michael Bracewell’s second over, gave United immediate momentum.

Farhan’s departure at 29 runs did little to slow down United. Colin Munro joined opener Andries Gous at the crease, and the pair stitched together a dominant 81-run stand. Munro played a brisk knock of 45 off 28 balls, featuring five fours and two sixes.

Gous Shines with Maiden Fifty

While Munro fell with the score at 110, Gous remained rock solid. He continued to anchor the chase and brought up his first PSL half-century in style. Gous partnered with Mohammad Nawaz to add another 55 runs, taking the game completely away from Multan.

Nawaz chipped in with a handy 21 off 19 balls before departing just before the target was achieved. Gous, however, stayed unbeaten till the end, smashing six fours and five sixes in his match-winning innings.

Multan’s Struggles with the Ball

Multan Sultans failed to make inroads at crucial moments. Their bowlers struggled to break partnerships or contain the flow of runs. Ubaid Shah, Chris Jordan, and Michael Bracewell picked up one wicket each, but the damage was already done.

Multan’s Batting Effort Falls Short

Batting first, Multan Sultans posted 168 for 5 in their 20 overs. Openers Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Khan laid a decent foundation with a 51-run partnership. Yasir contributed a fiery 29 off 17 balls, while Rizwan played a steady knock.

Usman Khan later took charge, scoring a determined half-century. His 65-run partnership with Rizwan pushed the total past 110 by the 14th over. However, the momentum dipped in the final stretch, and the total proved insufficient against United’s strong batting unit.

Islamabad United’s comprehensive win cements their position as title contenders and leaves Multan with plenty to reconsider moving forward in the tournament.
