In a powerful show of unity, the Pakistan Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Friday, condemning India’s attempt to link Pakistan to the recent deadly Pahalgam attack in India-held Kashmir. Lawmakers declared the move as baseless, provocative, and politically motivated.
Rejecting False Allegations
The Pahalgam attack on April 22 left at least 26 people dead and 17 injured. Most victims were Indian tourists, with one casualty from Nepal. India quickly accused Pakistan of involvement, despite lacking evidence. Pakistan’s Senate forcefully rejected the accusation, calling it a “frivolous and baseless attempt” to malign the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who presented the resolution, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and peace. He emphasized that the country will respond decisively to any military or diplomatic provocation.

Response from the National Security Committee
The resolution followed a meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee, which criticized India for its “reflexive blame game” and its repeated use of terrorism narratives for domestic political gain. The committee warned against India’s pattern of exploiting such incidents to deflect attention from internal issues.
Indus Waters Treaty in Focus
A key concern addressed in the resolution was India’s unilateral suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty. Senators labeled it an “act of war” and warned that any move to weaponize water would have dire regional consequences.
Calls for Peace with Preparedness
Throughout the session, lawmakers maintained that Pakistan seeks peace but will not compromise on its security. They warned that India’s reckless behavior, including the downgrading of diplomatic ties and border closures, threatens regional stability.
