Pakistan Issues Nuclear Threat Amid India Tensions

Share the latest news updates

Amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani minister Hanif Abbasi issued a nuclear threat to India, warning that “130 missiles are ready” for retaliation. The keyword “Pakistan nuclear threat” highlights the growing risks as diplomatic ties between the two nations deteriorate.

Pakistan Warns India of Missile Readiness

In a press conference, Hanif Abbasi declared that Pakistan’s Shaheen and Ghaznavi missiles were not merely symbolic but actively positioned against India. He stressed, “The 130 weapons we possess are not just for display — they are targeted at India, and you have no idea where they are stationed.” His remarks came at a time when tensions were already high following the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Abbasi’s comments followed India’s strong diplomatic responses, including the expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and closure of the Attari land-transit post.

Fallout of the Pahalgam Attack

On April 22, gunmen attacked tourists at the Baisaran meadow, killing 26 and injuring several more. The Resistance Front, a known proxy of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, initially claimed responsibility but later distanced itself from the assault. The incident has triggered one of the worst flare-ups between the two countries since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

India’s moves to isolate Pakistan diplomatically were met with sharp criticism from Islamabad. Abbasi accused India of using cross-border incidents as a pretext to impose sanctions and pressure Pakistan, rather than holding its own agencies accountable.

Warning of “Full-Scale War”

In addition to the missile threat, Abbasi warned that any Indian attempt to disrupt Pakistan’s water supply by halting the Indus Waters Treaty would invite a “full-scale war.” He emphasized that Pakistan had stopped water flows and trade in response to India’s actions and was making military preparations.

“Whenever something happens, instead of introspection, India immediately starts blaming others,” Abbasi said. “This time, we are prepared, and our response will be decisive.”

Growing Instability in the Region

The escalation of threats, particularly the Pakistan nuclear threat, has raised serious concerns among the international community. As both nations trade accusations and aggressive rhetoric, the situation remains volatile with the risk of further conflict looming.
