PSL 10: Irfan Khan’s Heroics Seal Thrilling Win for Karachi Kings

In a nail-biting encounter of PSL 10, Muhammad Irfan Khan’s explosive 48* off 21 balls led Karachi Kings to a dramatic four-wicket victory over Lahore Qalandars in a rain-shortened match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday. Chasing a revised target of 168 in 15 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, the Kings clinched the win with just three balls to spare.

Strong Start and Early Setbacks

Karachi Kings got off to a flying start. Captain David Warner and Tim Seifert smashed a rapid 40-run partnership in just three overs. However, Haris Rauf struck early, bowling Warner for 24. Seifert followed soon after, falling for a quick 24 off 10 balls.

Saad Baig, batting at number four, steadied the chase with a brisk 25 from 15 deliveries. His partnerships with James Vince and Irfan Khan kept the scoreboard ticking. But regular wickets, including the dismissal of Khushdil Shah for 9, left the Kings at 116/5 in 11.2 overs.

Irfan Khan Turns the Tide

With 52 runs needed off the last 22 balls, Irfan Khan took charge. He launched a stunning counterattack, hammering two fours and five sixes. His unbeaten 48 helped the Kings storm to victory. A crucial 45-run stand with Mohammad Nabi (15 off 8) ensured the Kings crossed the line, despite Nabi’s dismissal in the final over.

Lahore Qalandars’ Powerplay Brilliance

Batting first, Lahore Qalandars posted 160/8 in 15 overs. Their openers, Mohammad Naeem and Fakhar Zaman, provided a blazing start with a 90-run stand in eight overs. Naeem top-scored with a 29-ball 65, including six fours and five sixes.

Rain interrupted play for over an hour, shortening the game. After the break, Lahore struggled to maintain momentum. Fakhar added a 33-ball 51, but regular wickets from Abbas Afridi (4/27) halted their charge.

Bowlers Seal It for Kings

Abbas Afridi was the standout with four wickets. Aamir Jamal and Mir Hamza supported with one wicket each. Despite Lahore’s strong start, Karachi’s bowlers and Irfan’s late heroics sealed a memorable win in PSL 10.
