Mawra Hocane Slams Co-star Harshvardhan Rane Over His Refusal to Work in Sanam Teri Kasam 2
Actress Responds to Actor’s Harsh Remarks Following Patriotic Posts

Pakistani star Mawra Hocane has strongly responded to her Sanam Teri Kasam co-star Harshvardhan Rane, who recently said he will not act in the film’s sequel if the original cast — meaning Mawra — returns.
Harshvardhan, in a public post, linked his decision to Mawra’s patriotic stance during the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India. Without naming her directly, he made it clear that he was uncomfortable working with someone who, in his view, made “direct comments about his country.”
“While I am grateful for the experience, I have decided to respectfully decline Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if the previous cast is repeated,” Harshvardhan wrote.
Mawra Responds with a Strong Statement
Mawra Hocane, known for being vocal about national issues, didn’t hold back. She called out the actor for his “unnecessary hate” and accused him of using war for personal publicity.
“I don’t know whether to call this unfortunate, sad, or comical,” Mawra wrote.
“Someone I expected to have basic common sense has risen from deep slumber with a PR strategy.”
She explained that her patriotic posts were a response to violence in her country. She also pointed out that children had died in Pakistan and that national grief should not be used to seek headlines.
“This Is Not the Time to Discuss Films” – Mawra
The actress said it was shameful and bizarre for someone to talk about casting decisions during such a sensitive time.
“Our countries have been at war… This is not the time to mock each other or discuss films,” Mawra said.
“You just do not use war for personal benefit… you’ve fallen from grace for nothing.”
Calls for Peace and Perspective
In her statement, Mawra emphasized the need for compassion and maturity. She made it clear that she will not respond to hate with more hate and will continue to show respect to everyone she has worked with.
“Praying for our soldiers and civilians on both sides,” she concluded.
“May sense prevail.”
The exchange has gone viral on both sides of the border, with fans and media outlets reacting strongly. Many praised Mawra for maintaining her dignity and addressing the matter with clarity and courage.
This isn’t the first time politics has affected entertainment collaborations between India and Pakistan — and judging by the tone of this clash, it may not be the last.
