Pakistan’s Role in Iran-Israel Ceasefire Praised by Interior Minister

Pakistan played a crucial role in brokering the recent Pakistan Iran-Israel ceasefire, said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday. Speaking in Islamabad, Naqvi credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s armed forces for their behind-the-scenes efforts in securing the truce. “There is a uniform behind this ceasefire too,” he said, highlighting the military’s involvement.

Efforts Toward Religious Harmony

Naqvi made these remarks during a meeting with religious scholars from various sects ahead of Muharram. He stressed that Imam Hussain (RA) belongs to all and called for unity and peace during the sacred month. He praised scholars for consistently promoting harmony and thanked the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for uniting religious communities.

Pakistan’s Victory Over Indian Aggression

Referring to the recent military conflict with India, the interior minister said Pakistan successfully defended itself. He claimed Indian missiles failed to strike targets, while Pakistan responded with precision. “Our missile hit an oil depot, not civilians,” he added, emphasizing Pakistan’s restraint. Naqvi said India suffered greater losses and Pakistan’s military faced no major setbacks. “We celebrate Independence Day this year with four times the enthusiasm,” he stated.

Terrorism and Community Engagement

He also underscored the importance of community support in combating terrorism, especially in areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Naqvi urged increased cooperation with local scholars to strengthen the fight against militancy.

Support From Religious Leadership

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry echoed Naqvi’s views, urging scholars to stand united against terrorism and sectarianism. He praised their contributions and encouraged continued efforts to counter extremist narratives.

Recognition of Armed Forces

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad praised the armed forces and government for their decisive response to India. He also acknowledged Iran’s strong stance against Israeli actions and commended Pakistan’s vital role in the Iran-Israel ceasefire process. “The enemy is cunning,” he warned, “Stick to your own sect, but never provoke others.”

All Muharram preparations, he confirmed, are proceeding peacefully across the country
