In a decisive move to counter escalating threats, security forces launched a major Bannu operation on Friday, arresting 14 terror facilitators and demolishing three hideouts in the Hoveed and Wazirabad areas. This joint effort by police and the Pakistan Army came amid a wave of recent terrorist and drone attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Bannu, where police have been repeatedly targeted.
Joint Forces Sweep Through Terror Hotspots
Acting on confirmed intelligence, the operation began at 5 a.m. in the volatile Hoveed and Wazirabad areas. Police spokesperson Khanzala Quraishi stated that the offensive was launched to dismantle the infrastructure of a banned militant group. The forces quickly moved in to arrest 14 known facilitators and destroyed three key hideouts along the Tuchi River in Tudonar and its surroundings.
Five suspicious locations were cleared during the operation. Authorities seized two motorcycles and a rickshaw believed to be linked to the terror network. Patrols continued throughout Hoveed Bazaar and nearby areas to assert a visible security presence.
Tight Security and Curfew Imposed
To ensure safety during the operation, authorities imposed a curfew in the region. Local residents were instructed to stay indoors and cooperate with security personnel. Officials emphasized that anyone helping or hiding terrorists would face strict legal consequences.
“This operation has been launched on the basis of intelligence reports. The main goal is to cleanse the area from the scourge of terrorism and establish lasting peace,” said Quraishi.
Chain of Command and Coordinated Effort
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan ordered the mission, which was led by District Police Officer Saleem Abbasi Kalachi. House-to-house searches were carried out as forces surrounded the targeted zones. Quraishi confirmed that security personnel were instructed to take swift and decisive action against any form of resistance or suspicious behavior.

This is not just an isolated sweep. It’s part of a broader push to restore order and dismantle the support networks that have allowed terrorism to persist in the region,” a senior officer added.
Pattern of Escalating Attacks in Bannu
Bannu has become a focal point in recent months for terrorist violence. In July alone, police in the area were hit multiple times. A particularly alarming trend has been the use of quadcopters to launch explosives at police stations, including five separate drone-based assaults on the Miryan station.
Last week, a police constable was martyred in a terrorist attack at a local checkpoint. The ensuing exchange of fire left three terrorists dead and three officers wounded. These incidents underscore the persistent threat posed by militant elements in the region.
Calls for Vigilance and Public Support
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activity. “The fight against terrorism cannot be won without public cooperation,” said Quraishi. “People must understand the gravity of aiding militants—it’s a punishable crime with severe consequences.”
Security experts say that recent operations reflect a more proactive approach by law enforcement and the military. Rather than reacting to attacks, forces are now initiating preemptive strikes based on solid intelligence.
A Test of Resolve
The success of the latest Bannu operation signals a shift in strategy and commitment from the security establishment. As militants grow bolder in their tactics, Pakistan’s forces are working to match that escalation with precision and resolve.
While the region remains under tight watch, the arrests and destroyed hideouts mark a significant victory in the broader campaign to reclaim peace and order in Bannu. But challenges remain, and the need for continued operations, public cooperation, and effective intelligence gathering is greater than ever.
The mission in Hoveed and Wazirabad is just one step—but it’s a step in the right direction.
