Pakistan Security Forces Eliminate 47 Terrorists in Two-Days

Pakistan security forces have killed a total of 47 terrorists in a two-day anti-infiltration operation near the Pak-Afghan border in Zhob district, Balochistan. According to the military’s media wing, the operation targeted Indian-sponsored militants attempting to cross into Pakistan, preventing what officials called a major terrorist infiltration.

Second Day Brings More Eliminations

On the night of August 8–9, security forces carried out a deliberate sanitisation operation in the Sambaza area along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Fourteen more militants were hunted down and neutralised. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from their possession.

This action followed the previous day’s large-scale clash in the same area, when security forces intercepted a major infiltration attempt. In that engagement, at least 33 terrorists were killed. The two consecutive days of operations brought the total number of terrorists eliminated to 47.

Detection of Cross-Border Movement

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the militants belonged to the group Fitna al-Khwarij, described as an Indian proxy network. Security forces detected a sizeable group attempting to cross from Afghanistan into Pakistan on the night between August 7 and 8.

Swift action by Pakistani troops led to “successful engagements” in the Sambaza area, halting the group’s advance. The follow-up sanitisation operation targeted residual elements hiding in nearby locations, ensuring the area was fully cleared.

Continuous Vigilance at the Border

Officials stressed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to secure the nation’s borders. The military said it remains committed to preventing any attempt to sabotage Pakistan’s peace, stability, or progress.

The ISPR emphasised that maintaining strong border surveillance is essential given the recurring threats from across the frontier. The statement noted that such infiltration attempts are often part of coordinated efforts by hostile elements to destabilise the region.

Prime Minister Commends Armed Forces

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their decisive action. In a statement, he lauded the troops’ bravery and sacrifice in confronting the militants.

“The brave personnel of our security forces risked their lives to thwart the terrorists’ infiltration and crushed their evil designs,” Sharif said.

He added that the entire nation stands united with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. The prime minister also reaffirmed his government’s unwavering resolve to completely eliminate terrorism from Pakistan.

Pattern of Cross-Border Threats

This latest operation highlights the persistent security challenges faced along the Pak-Afghan border. Officials say that groups like Fitna al-Khwarij exploit difficult terrain and remote crossings to attempt infiltration.

Security experts note that such attempts often intensify during summer months, when weather conditions make movement through mountain passes more feasible. They also warn that cross-border attacks are sometimes coordinated with other hostile activities inside Pakistan.

Tactical Approach and Swift Response

Military analysts have credited the success of the Zhob operations to quick detection, timely intelligence, and decisive tactical manoeuvres. The initial clash on August 7–8 prevented a large-scale entry of militants, while the follow-up on August 8–9 ensured no stragglers escaped.

The use of sanitisation operations, which involve combing through areas after direct engagements, is seen as critical for ensuring that remaining threats are neutralised and weapons are seized before they can be used again.

Impact on Local Security

Authorities believe the elimination of 47 militants will significantly disrupt planned terrorist operations in the region. Local communities along the border have faced repeated threats in recent years, and officials say such actions provide a strong deterrent message to hostile groups.

The recovery of arms and explosives in the Sambaza area also underlines the scale of the threat. Military officials said the seized weapons would have been used in attacks against Pakistani civilians and security personnel.

National Resolve Against Terrorism

The government has reiterated its long-term commitment to eradicating terrorism. Leaders have stressed that political unity, public support, and strong intelligence-sharing will be key to sustaining security gains.

Security agencies continue to coordinate with regional partners to monitor cross-border movements and disrupt terrorist supply lines. The latest operation in Zhob, they say, reflects a zero-tolerance approach to infiltration attempts.
