Israeli Strikes Reduce as-Salam Tower to Rubble in Gaza City

The as-Salam tower, once a prominent residential and commercial high-rise in Gaza City, has been reduced to rubble in Israeli Israeli strikes. Witnesses reported multiple strikes on the building, which collapsed amid a cloud of smoke and fire. Families who once lived in the tower fled with little more than the clothes on their backs.
The destruction of as-Salam tower symbolizes the broader devastation across Gaza. Local residents described the building’s fall as a crushing blow to an already battered community. “We lost our homes, our memories, and our lives in one moment,” said a displaced resident who lived in the tower.
Hamas quickly condemned the threat, accusing Israel of pursuing a strategy of destruction. The group denounced the strikes on Gaza’s high-rise buildings, including the as-Salam tower, calling them “one of the most heinous images of sadism and criminality.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened an intense ground operation in Gaza City. In a televised statement, he warned Palestinians in the northern urban center to evacuate immediately. Netanyahu’s remarks follow days of heavy bombardment and escalating clashes, which have left residents in fear of an imminent full-scale military assault.
Gaza Death Toll Rises
Al-Awda Hospital has confirmed that at least one person was killed in Israeli artillery fire north of the Nuseirat refugee camp. Meanwhile, reports from health officials show that Israeli attacks since dawn have killed 14 people across Gaza.
Residents in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood also reported heavy artillery shelling, further deepening the humanitarian crisis. The death toll continues to climb as airstrikes and artillery barrages pound civilian areas.
Forced Evacuation Orders
The Israeli military has once again dropped evacuation leaflets over Gaza City. Footage circulating online shows paper notices fluttering down, urging residents to leave immediately and head south toward al-Mawasi in Khan Younis.
For thousands of families already displaced, the orders mean more uncertainty and suffering. Many say they have nowhere left to go, as shelters in southern Gaza are already overcrowded and short of resources.
Collective Punishment in the West Bank
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces demolished the home of a Palestinian detainee accused of a December bus shooting attack. The demolition left his wife, parents, and three children homeless.
Human rights groups have denounced such measures as collective punishment. According to B’Tselem, Israeli authorities have demolished at least 26 homes in the West Bank in 2025 alone, displacing over 70 Palestinians.
Arrests and Raids Continue
Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians during raids in Hebron governorate. One man was detained in a village west of Dura, while another was taken from Bani Na’im. Security forces also set up checkpoints and closed roads in the area.
A City Under Siege
The fall of as-Salam tower underscores the scale of destruction gripping Gaza City. With Netanyahu threatening an even larger ground assault, residents brace for further devastation. As leaflets rain down and buildings collapse, Palestinians face a dire humanitarian crisis with no clear end in sight.
