Authorities have identified the decomposed body found in a Tesla registered to singer-songwriter David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Police discovered the remains on September 8, 2025, after neighbors in the Hollywood Hills reported a foul odor coming from the abandoned vehicle.

Law enforcement confirmed on September 17 that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had officially identified the victim. Celeste, originally from Lake Elsinore, California, disappeared in April 2024 at the age of 13. She had remained missing for more than a year before her remains were found.

Police Say D4vd Is Co-operating With Investigation

Officers found Celeste’s body inside the trunk of the impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard. The vehicle, which bore Texas license plates, had been towed from the Hollywood Hills days earlier. Officials said both the cause and time of death remain under investigation.

Police sources cited by NBC News said the remains were not intact and appeared to have been there for an extended period. The medical examiner described the victim as 5ft 2in tall, with wavy black hair, wearing a tube top and black leggings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh.”

Law enforcement officials emphasized that D4vd is co-operating fully with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not named the 20-year-old singer as a suspect and have released no evidence linking him directly to the death.

Resurfaced Social Media Posts Spark Concern

In the days following the discovery, old posts and reposts from D4vd’s TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) accounts began circulating online. Screenshots shared widely show captions such as “I miss her” and a video of a man chopping meat with the caption “Me if I see her talk with other dudes.”

Another post reportedly stated: “Me after hearing about her past with other boys (I’m jealous and utterly disgusted by her actions).” One especially disturbing message described a fictional scenario involving cannibalism and a romantic partner’s death.

While it remains unclear whether these posts referred to Celeste Rivas, many internet users believe their timing and tone warrant closer examination. Advocacy groups and online commentators have urged anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement.

Public Reaction and Tour Cancellations

The discovery has sparked widespread outrage and speculation online, with critics calling for a deeper investigation into D4vd’s potential connection to the victim. Fans expressed shock and sadness across social platforms, while some questioned the resurfaced posts.

D4vd, who rose to fame with viral hits “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” released his debut album in April. He was on tour when authorities discovered the body. His scheduled performance in Seattle on Wednesday was canceled as the investigation intensified.

Investigation Continues

Officials have not disclosed a timeline for determining the cause of death or how Celeste’s body ended up in D4vd’s vehicle. As the investigation unfolds, the case continues to draw intense media attention and public scrutiny, keeping the spotlight on one of music’s most promising young artists.
