Ramadan2023: Preparations Made in Masjid Al Haram
In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, preparations has been made in Masjid Al Haram, located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. One of the arrangements made was the organizing of lockers for pilgrims and worshippers who intended to perform Itikaaf. Itikaaf is a spiritual practice where a person secludes themselves inside a mosque for a specific period of time to devote themselves entirely to worship.

Another arrangement made was the organizing of the Quran shelves in Masjid Al Haram. The Quran is the holy book of Islam, and its shelves needed to be arranged to facilitate easy access for worshippers who would be visiting the mosque during the month of Ramadan.
In addition to these arrangements, the Golden crescent had been placed on the minaret of Masjid Al Haram. The crescent is an Islamic symbol used to mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan, and its placement on the minaret signifies the start of the holy month.
On the day of the start of the month of Ramadan, a statement had been issued from the Royal Court, declaring that the previous day had been the completion of the month of Sha’ban, and the month of Ramadan 1444 AH had begun on Thursday. This statement provided important information to Muslims who were planning to observe the holy month.
Finally, Chief Astronomer Dr. Abdullah Khudairi had arrived in Sudair and had started the investigation of the #Ramadan1444 crescent. The sighting of the crescent is an important event in determining the beginning of the month of Ramadan, and Dr. Khudairi’s investigation was necessary to provide accurate information to the Muslim community.
