Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) is set to conduct its elections today for the term of 2024-25, featuring a keen competition between two major groups, the Businessmen Panel (BMP) led by Anjum Nisar and the alliance of Businessmen Panel (Progressing) with United Business Group (UBG) led by Iftikhar Ali Malik and S M Naseer.
Scheduled to begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 5:30 pm, the elections will determine the president, senior vice president, and various vice presidents representing different regions and sectors. The candidates, nominated by chambers of commerce and industries, women chambers, and national level associations, will cast their votes in this annual FPCCI election.
The focal point of contention is the presidential seat, where Atif Ikram Sheikh from UBG and Muhammad Ali from BMP are engaged in a direct competition. Similarly, the race for senior vice president features Saquib Fayyaz of UBG and Abdul Ghani of BMP.
Competitive battles for vice president positions are taking place in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, and the federal area, with candidates from both BMP and UBG vying for these crucial roles. Additionally, contested seats for vice presidents representing small traders, women chambers, and the Association Class add further intensity to the electoral landscape.
As the day progresses, both BMP and UBG express confidence in securing victories and shaping the leadership of FPCCI for the coming year.
