Changan Launches New Electric Car Brand DEEPAL in Pakistan
DEEPAL models are priced to compete with gasoline cars.
Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML), a collaboration between Master Group of Industries and Changan International, has launched Changan’s electric car brand, DEEPAL, on Friday in Karachi. The launch marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s automotive industry, as customers can test drive the new models at the mall until August 25th.
DEEPAL was unveiled with two models: the L07, a pure electric sports luxury sedan, and the S07, a pure electric premium SUV. Both vehicles boast 250 HP and 320 Nm of instant torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 5.9 seconds. They are powered by a Ternary Lithium battery from CATL, with a capacity of 66.8 kWh, offering a range of up to 540 km for the L07 and 485 km for the S07. These cars, designed in Changan’s R&D center in Italy, have already earned international recognition, including the German RedDot design award in 2023.

MCML has strategically priced the DEEPAL models to compete with traditional gasoline and hybrid cars. In a bid to enhance customer convenience, the company is offering a complimentary 7kW fast home charger with each purchase, capable of fully charging the battery in 5 to 8 hours.
The DEEPAL brand signifies a deep partnership between Changan, Huawei, and CATL, combining their expertise to deliver top-tier electric vehicles. With 41% of Pakistan’s energy derived from non-fossil fuels and a rising oil import bill, MCML aims to drive mass adoption of electric vehicles in the country. CEO Danial Malik highlighted the company’s efforts to expand the national EV charging network from five to 17 cities, with 23 new charging points, positioning MCML at the forefront of Pakistan’s EV revolution.
