Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) to Be Celebrated on September 17

Islamabad – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the crescent for Rabi ul Awal, was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan. The month will officially begin on Friday, September 6, 2024 (1446 Hijri). Therefore, Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) to Be Celebrated on September 17.

This announcement came after the moon sighting committee meeting, which was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Islamabad. Following the meeting, Maulana Azad addressed a press conference where he confirmed the decision.

“We did not receive any credible reports of moon sighting from any part of the country,” Maulana Azad said, adding that while some regions of Pakistan experienced cloudy weather, others had clear skies, but still no moon was sighted. “The committee, after thorough consultation and consensus, concluded that Rabi ul Awal will commence on Friday, September 6,” he explained.

The meeting concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, the protection of the holy cities of Makkah and Madina, the security and prosperity of Pakistan, national solidarity, the liberation of Kashmir, and freedom for Gaza and Palestine. Special prayers were also made for the safety and stability of the country.

One of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar, Eid Milad un Nabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), will be celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal, which falls on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
