The cast of Friends is unwilling to participate in a biopic about Matthew Perry’s life, according to insiders. While Perry once considered turning his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, into a movie, things have become more complicated since his tragic death.

“When he was alive, Matthew talked about developing a biopic based on his memoir, and there’s still buzz about making a film,” an insider revealed to In Touch. However, the Friends cast members, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, do not want any part in the project.

The source added, “Jen and the rest of the gang don’t want to be involved. At all.” The reasons for their decision are mixed. Some believe the cast fears that secrets about Perry’s life might be revealed. Others think the project is too painful to approach so soon after his death.

Matthew Perry passed away on October 28, 2023, at age 54. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. Initial reports suggested he had drowned, but further investigation revealed a different cause. In December, authorities determined that his death was due to the acute effects of ketamine. No drugs were found at the scene.

Perry’s sudden death has led to an ongoing investigation, and several people have already been arrested. Among those facing trial is alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, also known as the “Ketamine Queen,” along with five others charged for their suspected involvement in Perry’s death.

Despite the buzz surrounding the potential biopic, the Friends cast’s refusal to participate has created a significant hurdle for the project. With the investigation into Perry’s death still unfolding and the emotional impact of his loss, the timing may not be right for such a film.

The insider added, “It’s understandable that the cast would want to distance themselves from the project, especially when the memories are still fresh.” Perry’s death, his struggles with addiction, and the aftermath have left a lasting impact on both the public and those closest to him.

While fans of Perry and Friends may have hoped to see his life story brought to the screen, the cast’s decision to step back is clear. For now, the possibility of a biopic remains uncertain, and the focus remains on honoring Perry’s memory in a way that feels right for everyone involved.
