The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Department of Health has launched emergency measures to control a malaria outbreak. Rising cases have led officials to declare 13 districts as high-risk areas. These include Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Hangu, and Karak.

The Public Health director led a meeting with healthcare representatives to assess the situation. They focused on distributing mosquito nets and formulating a response plan. Officials believe climate change has worsened the malaria outbreak, causing mosquito-borne diseases to increase.

Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali has ordered emergency measures across the province. There is concern over a possible rise in dengue cases due to changing weather, though malaria remains the immediate threat.

Over 100 suspected dengue patients visited Peshawar hospitals recently, with 39 testing positive. The Hayatabad Medical Complex received most of these patients. Officials have started fumigation efforts in five districts, including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bannu, Swabi, and Nowshera.

Fogging activities have begun in areas identified as dengue hotspots. Dengue control teams are visiting affected areas to conduct fumigation and distribute mosquito nets. Health officials are focusing on preventive measures and raising awareness to curb both malaria and dengue.

The government’s efforts aim to protect residents in high-risk areas as they work to combat the growing threat posed by climate change and rising disease cases.
