Adeela Khudabaksh, a suspect in an alleged suicide bombing plot, spoke at a press conference held by the Balochistan government in Quetta on Wednesday. She admitted she had been “led astray by a few individuals.” Flanked by her parents, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, and MPA Farah Azeem Shah, Khudabaksh revealed that negative influences had misled her.
Rind explained that Khudabaksh’s father reported her missing on September 16. Due to past incidents, authorities treated the situation urgently. The district and provincial administrations, along with law enforcement agencies (LEAs), including the Counter-Terrorism Department, worked closely with the family to locate her.
Khudabaksh, a nurse at Turbat District Headquarters Hospital, described how individuals manipulated her into considering suicide attacks. She expressed deep regret, saying she never thought about the lives she could have endangered, including her own.
She recalled going to the mountains, where she realized her mistake. The conditions were harsh, and the promises made to her were false. Khudabaksh witnessed other young people who were also misled. She referred to a recent incident involving a female suicide bomber, saying that the idea Baloch women willingly carry out these attacks is untrue. She explained that women are blackmailed and taken against their will.
Through tears, Khudabaksh thanked the Balochistan government for saving her. She described herself as a survivor and urged others not to fall prey to manipulators. She also mentioned another girl with her in the mountains but didn’t know her real name due to the use of code names.

Her father, a bank employee in Karachi, also spoke. He urged other parents facing similar situations to contact authorities, just as he did. He condemned those who take other people’s daughters for personal agendas.
MPA Farah Azeem Shah praised Khudabaksh, calling her a role model for other women. She affirmed that the Balochistan government is actively countering attempts to brainwash the youth. Azeem also mentioned a campaign launched by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti to raise awareness and encourage vigilance.
Azeem stressed that Balochistan’s political situation is unique due to its borders with two countries. This involvement of various agencies has forced the province to allocate much of its budget to safety. She highlighted efforts to engage youth, including sending 30,000 young people abroad for education and increasing education funding in the province.
Azeem called for an end to violence, saying the only loss would be for Balochistan and its innocent people.
