Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Launches with Bigger Display

The Phone has also limited the phone to 8GB of RAM

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE, introducing several key upgrades over its predecessor. The latest model comes with a larger 6.7-inch display and a bigger battery, aiming to offer users enhanced performance and longer battery life.

Unlike previous years, there will be no variation in chipsets across regions. The Galaxy S24 FE is powered by the Exynos 2400e processor, marking a significant upgrade. Although Samsung has not disclosed full details, reports suggest the prime Cortex-X4 core runs at a slightly lower clock speed. However, the phone promises better sustained performance, thanks to a 1.1x larger vapor chamber for improved heat management.

Samsung has also limited the phone to 8GB of RAM, which matches the capacity of the vanilla Galaxy S24. Storage options will include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants. Despite concerns over RAM capacity, the phone is fully equipped to handle Galaxy AI, which plays a major role in camera and system performance.

Larger Display and ProVisual Engine

The Galaxy S24 FE boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display. While this is 0.3 inches larger than the S23 FE, it still lags behind the S24+’s QHD+ LTPO display. Nevertheless, the S24 FE’s display supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, with the option to drop to 60Hz for energy savings. It also includes Vision Booster technology, which enhances visibility on bright, sunny days.

A key highlight of the S24 FE is the introduction of Samsung’s ProVisual engine, previously reserved for flagship models. The ProVisual engine combines Nightography for low-light photography with an object-aware AI system to optimize colors in Super HDR shots. This enables users to capture clearer, more vibrant images even in challenging lighting conditions.

Camera System and Processing Power

The S24 FE’s camera system is similar to last year’s model but with enhanced processing power. It features a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The telephoto module offers optical-quality zoom, while the ultra-wide lens covers a 123-degree field of view. A 10MP selfie camera rounds out the setup, offering users versatility in their photography options. The enhanced AI processing promises to make the most out of these camera components.

Battery and Charging

The battery capacity has increased to 4,700mAh, offering 200mAh more than the S23 FE. This should translate to longer battery life for users. However, charging speeds remain the same: 25W wired charging (0-50% in 30 minutes) and 15W wireless charging. While these speeds are not the fastest in the market, they are consistent with Samsung’s approach to balancing charging safety and efficiency.

Design and Build

The Galaxy S24 FE measures 162.0 x 77.3 x 8.0mm and weighs 213g. It is slightly taller and heavier than its predecessor, but the slim build remains largely unchanged. The phone also retains its IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, capable of withstanding submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Software and Long-Term Support

The S24 FE comes preloaded with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. Although Android 15 is on the horizon, Samsung has committed to supporting the FE with 7 OS updates and 7 years of security patches, giving it the same long-term support as the flagship Galaxy S24 models.

With these upgrades, the Galaxy S24 FE stands out as a solid mid-range option for users seeking flagship-level performance at a more affordable price.
