Assignment Editors Association has set up a special committee for Karachi Press Club elections

Karachi: An emergency meeting of the Association of Karachi Assignment Editors, an organization representing the assignment editors of news channels, was held at the Karachi Press Club, in which a detailed consultation was held regarding the Karachi Press Club elections.

In the tumultuous meeting of the unit, a five-member committee was formed to decide which panel the organization would support in the Press Club elections.

The meeting unanimously gave full authority to the committee that after consultation the committee would decide to unconditionally support anyone panel participating in the club elections.

The committee will take a final decision in the next two days after meeting the representatives of the panels participating in the Karachi Press Club elections.

The committee members include Khalid Zaman, president of the unit’s committee Amir Bakhtiar, vice president Zohaib Ahmed, general secretary Ehtesham Khalid, joint secretary Tariq Aziz, and treasurer Sabih Alwari.

The meeting also discussed the holding of a function on unit elections and distribution of cards while future strategy was also discussed.

On this occasion, the President, Khalid Zaman said that in view of the situation of media channels, it has become inevitable for the assignment editors to be active.

Assignment desks, which are considered the backbone of the channels, have to struggle for their identity.
