RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy successfully seized a massive cache of narcotics in a high-profile anti-narcotics operation. The news was confirmed by the military’s media wing on Monday. The operation led to the confiscation of Indian-made narcotic pills and a large quantity of drugs.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Navy confiscated 2,000 kilograms of hashish, 370 kilograms of ice, and 50 kilograms of heroin during the operation. The estimated value of the seized drugs in the international market is a staggering $145 million. These drugs have since been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further action.
The Pakistan Navy has reiterated its commitment to actively safeguard the maritime boundaries of the region and prevent illegal activities, including drug trafficking.
Recent Joint Operations
This operation follows a series of successful anti-narcotics missions. Last week, the Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150), seized another large haul of narcotics in the North Arabian Sea. The focused operation was carried out by Pakistan Navy’s ship PNS Zulfiquar and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency’s ship Kolachi. Aircraft from the coast guard and the Pakistan Navy also provided aerial support to the operation.
As a result of these coordinated efforts, 1.3 tons of hashish, worth an estimated $26 million, was confiscated during the operation.
