Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized the urgent need to empower youth with education to counter misinformation campaigns. Speaking at the “Safar Mualim” program organized by Voice of Balochistan, Bugti highlighted the importance of teachers in equipping young minds to discern and reject enemy propaganda aimed at destabilizing society. In this context, he underlined the crucial role of “education against propaganda” as a means to foster unity and peace.

Teachers as Society’s Defenders

Bugti expressed his belief that teachers have a pivotal role in educating society to confront harmful narratives spread by the state’s adversaries. He pointed out that negative elements often attempt to mislead young people toward violence and criminal activities through various online channels. “Our youth must be shielded against these misleading narratives. Teachers are key to achieving this,” he stated.

The Chief Minister added that in the past, qualified teachers from other provinces were brought in to enhance the local educators’ skill sets, but these efforts were discontinued. As a result, Balochistan continues to struggle with educational shortcomings. To fill this gap, Bugti emphasized the need for local teachers to actively promote a sense of critical thinking among youth, helping them distinguish between perception and reality.

New Programs for Youth Empowerment

During the program, Bugti announced the launch of the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, a provincial initiative that supports education for the brightest students. Under this program, ten top-performing male and female students from each district, including minorities, will receive scholarships, the first such initiative in the province’s history. This step, Bugti said, opens new paths for youth to play constructive roles in the development of both Balochistan and Pakistan.

In his address, he encouraged teachers to instill values of patriotism and respect for the country’s heritage in their students, emphasizing that these values have always been a hallmark of their forefathers. “Guiding our youth with positive values and instilling love for their country is crucial for a prosperous society,” he stated.

A Path to Sustainable Development

Bugti underscored that sustainable development depends on improving governance and establishing a respectful relationship between the state and its citizens. According to him, mutual respect and love are essential to maintaining this relationship, and everyone has a role to play in upholding these values. Bugti pointed out that those who pursue violence and separatism are following a misguided path. “No one can divide this great state,” he asserted, stressing that the people of Balochistan need to reject narratives of division and backwardness.

Tackling Inequality with Constructive Dialogue

Acknowledging the challenges of unbalanced development, Bugti noted that inequality is not unique to Balochistan and is a global issue. He urged people to express any discontent through dialogue and peaceful means rather than resorting to violence. “While expressing our grievances is legitimate, we must not let it distance us from our state or turn us toward violence,” he added.

In conclusion, CM Bugti called on teachers to actively contribute to educating the youth on the perils of false propaganda and to nurture values of peace, unity, and constructive criticism. Furthermore, Bugti believes these efforts can safeguard Balochistan’s youth against misinformation and inspire them to contribute positively to society.
