Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced ePayment 2.0, a new tax payment system integrated into its IRIS 2.0 portal. This advanced system aims to streamline tax payments across Pakistan, making the process faster, more secure, and easier for taxpayers.

The FBR launched ePayment 2.0 as part of the government’s mission to modernize Pakistan’s tax infrastructure. This system offers a seamless, one-stop platform for various tax payments, including income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty, and withholding tax. The integration within IRIS 2.0 eliminates the need for separate portals, creating a unified experience that simplifies compliance for taxpayers.

Enhanced Accessibility for Taxpayers

ePayment 2.0 allows taxpayers to make online payments directly from their bank accounts using multiple methods: internet banking, ATMs, and mobile banking. By consolidating these payment options, the FBR has designed a more user-friendly system to make tax compliance more accessible and efficient.

According to the FBR, this system’s secure design ensures that taxpayers’ information and transactions remain protected throughout the process. ePayment 2.0’s introduction also reflects FBR’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance user experience.

Unique Payment Slip ID (PSID) for Quick Transactions

One of the standout features of ePayment 2.0 is the introduction of a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID) for each transaction. Taxpayers, whether registered or unregistered, can use this PSID to make payments quickly. Once the payment is completed, the system generates a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) that is sent via email and SMS, providing official verification for the transaction and an easily accessible record in the IRIS system.

Real-Time Payment Processing and Compliance

The secure, multi-step process of ePayment 2.0 enables real-time compliance management. Taxpayers can generate a PSID, complete payments through various channels, and receive a CPR in a few steps. This streamlined approach ensures that all payments are recorded instantly. It will reduce delays and enhance efficiency for both taxpayers and the FBR.

Inauguration by Director General at PRAL Headquarters

Aisha Farooq, Director General (IT & DT), inaugurated the ePayment 2.0 system at PRAL Headquarters in Islamabad. During the launch event, she emphasized the significance of this development. She noted that ePayment 2.0 marks a critical advancement in FBR’s digital infrastructure. She expressed confidence that this system will improve tax compliance, simplify processes. she also added that it will contribute to Pakistan’s digital transformation.

Positive Impact on Revenue Management

Moreover, it will cover a range of taxes within one platform. ePayment 2.0 represents a key step in modernizing revenue management in Pakistan. The will improve tax collection efficiency and reduce the administrative burden on both taxpayers and FBR staff.
