Fahad Mustafa Discusses Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum Success, Rejects Sequel Rumors
Fahad Mustafa has ruled out a sequel to his hit TV drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. Speaking on the talk show Haute Talk, he addressed fan speculation about a continuation of Mustafa and Sharjeena’s story. “There are no chances,” Fahad stated firmly. “I’m not that foolish. This wasn’t about making money, so what’s the point of a sequel?”
Despite the drama’s overwhelming success, Fahad emphasized that he aimed to create impactful art, not just capitalize on its popularity.
Marking His TV Return
Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum marked Fahad’s return to TV serials after a significant period focused on films and hosting. However, he dismissed the term “comeback,” highlighting his consistent presence in the industry through movies like Actor in Law, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad.
Reflecting on his role, Fahad said, “The challenge was reintroducing myself as Mustafa on TV. The character couldn’t be over-the-top, yet had to resonate with audiences. People remembering me as Mustafa, not Fahad Mustafa, is the real win.”
Crafting Mustafa’s Character
Fahad delved into the creative process behind portraying Mustafa, a jobless gamer who transforms into a gaming expert. He observed young gamers, noting their habits, style, and demeanor.
“I studied their world — how they dress, their lingo, even how they avoid showers,” he joked. Fahad revealed he borrowed clothes from the boys on set to maintain authenticity and even shared outfits with co-star Hania Aamir in some scenes to highlight subtle intimacy between their characters.
Praise for the Cast and Crew
Fahad credited the drama’s success to the collective effort of the cast and crew. He also acknowledged Hania Aamir, who played Sharjeena, as the real star of the show. “Mustafa often reacted to others. My active performance came in the last three episodes,” he admitted.
The actor expressed gratitude for the audience’s love, calling their response “a testament to his craft and dedication.”
Choosing Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum
Initially, Fahad was set to star in another drama, Burns Road Kay Romeo Juliet. However, he chose Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum after Hania Aamir and producer Jerjees Seja convinced him. “Jerjees has always valued me, and I felt ARY needed my presence. It wasn’t about money; it was about loyalty and giving back,” he said.
Fahad shared his frustration with actors prioritizing money over quality work. “A good drama requires time and dedication. I gave nine months to live Mustafa’s character, and it paid off.”
