The Lahore district administration inspected 2,576 shops, markets, and malls in the last 24 hours. Officials sealed 50 shops for violating government anti-smog standard operating procedures (SOPs) and imposed fines totaling Rs 20,000 on violators.
Widespread Inspections Across Lahore
Assistant Commissioners (ACs) conducted inspections in multiple areas of Lahore. AC City checked 480 places and sealed one shop for violations. Similarly, AC Cantt inspected 420 locations and issued warnings to shopkeepers at three places.
AC Model Town was the most active, inspecting 634 shops, sealing 10 for SOP violations, and imposing fines of Rs 20,000. AC Raiwind checked eight locations and sealed four shops for non-compliance.
Action Taken in Various Towns
AC Shalimar sealed seven shops, while AC Ravi inspected 335 locations and sealed six for violating anti-smog guidelines. AC Allama Iqbal Town inspected 55 shops and sealed three, while AC Wagah sealed seven shops during inspections.
In Nishtar Town, the AC inspected 200 locations and sealed five shops. AC Sadar visited 150 locations, sealing eight for violations.
Appeal for Cooperation
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Syed Musa Raza urged citizens to cooperate with the administration in combating smog. He emphasized that smog is a serious health concern, particularly for children, the older people, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
Strict Action Against Violators
DC Musa Raza warned that strict, indiscriminate action will continue against violators of anti-smog SOPs. He stressed the importance of adhering to guidelines to protect public health and ensure a cleaner environment.
