Karachi: Bad news for those driving without licenses in Karachi, as police have decided to take strict action against them starting January. According to details, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon announced the launch of a traffic awareness campaign by Sindh Police.
During a press conference in Karachi, he stated that not having a driving license is a major cause of traffic accidents, and the police will take comprehensive measures to address this issue. IG Sindh further instructed police officers to ensure checks without causing inconvenience to citizens. Before verifying licenses, officers should ask individuals whether they possess one.

He clarified that first-time violators would be issued a fine, but repeat offenders would face criminal charges. He added that the awareness campaign would begin today and continue until December 31, with strict enforcement starting in January.
Additional IG Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, during his briefing, mentioned that there are 6.5 million vehicles on Karachi’s roads and noted that 75% of motorcyclists are underage. He said that during the awareness campaign, first-time violators would be warned, followed by legal action later.
This year, 355 cases related to traffic accidents have been registered. The campaign aims to ensure compliance with traffic laws and raise public awareness to reduce the number of accidents on the roads.
