Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s founding chairman, has welcomed the meeting between PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. The Peshawar meeting, aimed at addressing pressing political and security concerns, was seen as a step toward national stability.
Imran’s Guidance Shapes Talks
After visiting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar spoke informally with the media, stressing that all PTI actions align with Imran’s directives. He assured that details of any meetings would only be disclosed with Imran’s approval. Gohar called the dialogue with General Munir a positive development for addressing Pakistan’s ongoing challenges.
Key Demands Raised
During the meeting, Gohar and Gandapur presented PTI’s primary demands, including the formation of a judicial commission to investigate two significant incidents. Gohar emphasized PTI’s commitment to dialogue, highlighting that progress in discussions would benefit the country’s stability.
“We have always been open to dialogue, while others have closed their doors,” Gohar stated, underscoring the importance of finding common ground for Pakistan’s future.

Security Concerns Dominate Discussion
The meeting focused on security issues, with both Gohar and Gandapur expressing concerns about regional stability. While the talks yielded positive momentum, tensions arose between Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa leaders over funding allocations for counterterrorism.
CM Gandapur and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi clashed over the use of Rs500 billion, with Gandapur accusing Kundi of spreading misinformation. The exchange escalated further when ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan alleged that the provincial government harbored Taliban elements. Gandapur defended his role in the Afghan Jihad and called for transparency regarding these accusations.
Despite the disagreements, General Munir and other political leaders worked to steer the discussion back to regional security priorities.
Call for Parliamentary Action
Barrister Gohar urged that security challenges be addressed at the national level, stressing the importance of involving Parliament in these critical discussions. He underscored the need for a unified approach to tackle the ongoing threats facing Pakistan.
Post-Meeting Developments
Following the Peshawar meeting, Gohar proceeded to Parliament House to meet Omar Ayub, the head of PTI’s Negotiation Committee. During their discussion, Gohar delivered a special message from Imran Khan, further shaping the party’s next steps in negotiations.
Reports suggest Omar Ayub may hold a press conference soon to outline the progress and future direction of PTI’s talks.
A Step Toward Stability
The Peshawar meeting marked a significant moment for PTI’s leadership and their efforts to navigate the country’s pressing political and security challenges. With Imran Khan’s backing, the dialogue with the army chief offers hope for progress and stability in Pakistan’s volatile landscape.
