The National Bank Stadium in Karachi has undergone a complete renovation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While construction is 100% complete, finishing touches will be finalized by January 31. However, the stadium’s seating capacity has temporarily been reduced from 32,000 to 28,000 due to ongoing upgrades, making “National Bank Stadium renovations” a central topic in preparations for the tournament.

Renovation Highlights

Project Manager Bilal Chauhan shared that the newly constructed building at the stadium is nearly ready, with key facilities already completed. The ground floor now features rooms for the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Anti-Doping units, as well as match officials’ rooms. Dressing rooms on the first floor are almost complete, ensuring they meet ICC standards.

On the third and fourth floors, 24 hospitality boxes are nearing completion. The chairman’s boxes and administrative block, located on the fourth floor, are still under construction. Two modern elevators have been installed, while an external lift will be added in the coming days to improve accessibility.

Seating and Pavilion Updates

Due to ongoing construction, the stadium’s seating capacity has temporarily dropped to 28,000. However, the pavilion can accommodate an additional 2,000 spectators, providing some relief for fans. VVIP enclosures, named after cricket legends Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas, are also nearing completion.

Advanced Lighting and Digital Screens

The lighting system has seen major upgrades, with six LED lights almost ready for use. Two large digital screens will soon be installed. An 80 x 30-foot screen will be placed in front of the Wasim Akram enclosure, while a 20 x 30-foot screen will be installed in front of the Intikhab Alam enclosure.

Parking and Logistics

Parking arrangements for 2,700 vehicles have been finalized, though official ICC approval is pending. To ensure smooth operations, the Sindh government has instructed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to assist with logistics for spectators during the tournament.

A Step Toward a Successful Champions Trophy

These renovations aim to modernize the stadium and enhance the viewing experience for fans. With its upgraded facilities and improved infrastructure, the National Bank Stadium is set to host exciting matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
