Gaddafi Stadium has introduced a netting system to prevent cricket balls from falling into a newly built trench after a six. This upgrade is part of the stadium’s final renovations for the ICC Champions Trophy. In conclusion the enhancements aim to improve player experience and fan safety.

Final Phase of Renovations

The stadium’s renovation is nearing completion, with all upgrades expected to be finished by tomorrow. Once completed, the stadium will be officially handed over to management. However Pakistan and New Zealand will hold their first practice session in the upgraded stadium tomorrow, preparing for the upcoming matches.

Trench for Fan Safety

Green-painted fences line both sides of the trench, blending with the stadium’s aesthetic.

Netting to Solve Ball Retrieval Issue

With the trench in place, concerns arose about cricket balls falling in after a six. This addition ensures smooth match proceedings while maintaining security.

Upcoming Matches and Inauguration

Before that, on February 7th, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will officially inaugurate the modernized stadium.
