Opting to bat first, England posted 304 all out with one delivery left. Ben Duckett (65) and Joe Root (69) guided their innings, setting a solid platform. England was cruising at 219-3 in the 39th over, looking poised for a big total. However, India’s bowlers fought back, triggering a late collapse.
Ravindra Jadeja played a key role, taking 3-35, holding a crucial catch, and executing a sharp run-out to dismiss Adil Rashid. Liam Livingstone (41) added quick runs, but England lost wickets at regular intervals, falling short of a bigger total.

Rohit’s Explosive Knock Leads the Chase
Rohit, struggling for form in recent matches, silenced his critics with a masterclass. He started cautiously but soon found his rhythm, reaching a 30-ball fifty. He and Shubman Gill (60) built a strong 136-run opening stand, putting India in control.
Gill’s dismissal by Jamie Overton and Virat Kohli’s cheap exit for five gave England a brief opening. However, Rohit continued his onslaught, bringing up his 32nd ODI hundred with a six off Rashid.
Late Wickets Add Drama
England fought back as Rohit’s skied shot led to his dismissal, taken brilliantly by Rashid. Shreyas Iyer (44) looked set before an unfortunate run-out added to India’s jitters. Quick wickets of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya kept England’s hopes alive.
However, Axar Patel (41 not out) held his nerve, steering India to victory with smart batting. His composure ensured India wrapped up the chase with ease.
England Left Searching for Answers
Captain Jos Buttler admitted England fell short despite a strong batting display. “We needed a few of us to capitalize and push towards 350. Rohit played a terrific knock,” he said.
