India Bans Dozens of Pakistani YouTube Channels Amid Rising Tensions

In a sweeping move, India banned Geo News and 15 other Pakistani YouTube channels, accusing them of spreading “provocative” content after the Pahalgam attack. The decision, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, drew strong condemnation from Pakistan.

India Justifies YouTube Ban

New Delhi claimed the banned channels propagated sensitive narratives that countered Indian media’s version of events surrounding the Pahalgam attack. Officials said the content created “public disorder” and hurt “national security.” The action marks another escalation in India’s crackdown on digital platforms linked to Pakistan.

The banned channels reportedly included not only news outlets but also independent creators who highlighted inconsistencies in Indian media coverage. Analysts see this as India’s attempt to tighten control over narratives related to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Indian Forces Martyr Kashmiri Activist

Meanwhile, tensions in IIOJK escalated further as Indian forces martyred 43-year-old social activist Ghulam Rasool Magray in Kupwara district. According to locals, Indian troops stormed Magray’s house, hurled abuses at him, dragged him into the courtyard, and shot him.

Magray later succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, reported Kashmir Media Service (KMS).

“My son was a labourer who had done no harm to anyone. He was my only source of livelihood. Why was he killed?” Magray’s grieving mother cried.

Locals said Magray was widely respected for his community service and had no political affiliations. His martyrdom has intensified anger across the region, fueling calls for justice and international intervention.

Pakistan Stands United Against Indian Propaganda

Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar strongly condemned India’s actions, stating that Pakistan remains united against Indian propaganda.

“India now realises that its narrative is being challenged. It will face international embarrassment,” Tarar asserted. He further revealed that Pakistan’s government is considering calling a joint session of Parliament to formulate a strong national response.

Tarar praised the resilience of Pakistani youth on social media, especially highlighting how Pakistanis have outshined India in the “meme game,” effectively countering propaganda with humor and facts.

A Growing Information War

This latest episode reveals the deepening information war between India and Pakistan. While India seeks to suppress dissenting voices by banning Pakistani content, Pakistan vows to respond with unity, resilience, and facts.

The digital battleground continues to expand, as social media becomes a frontline for narratives on Kashmir and broader regional conflicts. Observers note that such moves could backfire, drawing greater global attention to human rights violations in IIOJK.
