Karachi: In the Cabinet committee meeting, on Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan instructed to expedite the supply of vaccines for coronavirus in the country.
according to the details, Premiere Imran Khan chaired the meeting which was attended by Muhammad Hammad Azhar, Dr Faisal Sultan, Asad Umar and Dr Sania Nishtar.
The members of the committee informed that the urgent use of two vaccines has been approved and measures are taken for the approval in order to accelerate the process of bringing more vaccines.
Vaccines will arrive in Pakistan in the first quarter of 2021, added the members of the committee.
To which the Prime Minister instructed the Cabinet Committee to expedite the steps taken for the supply of approved covid vaccines.
Recently, Pakistan, for emergency use, has approved authorized China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
According to sources, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has allowed the Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use in Pakistan. This the second vaccine to get local approval.
Two COVID-19 vaccines are being produced by Sinopharm, a state-run Chinese company, Pakistan will buy from China 1.2 million doses of the corona vaccine.
In addition, Pakistan is also conducting phase III clinical trials, led by the National Institute of Health, of another Chinese vaccine from CanSino Biologics.’
The government of Pakistan has provided permission to use Oxford-Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine (AZD1222), on Saturday in case of an emergency situation.
