3,500 COVID-19 cases emerged in Pakistan in a day

KARACHI: In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 61 deaths and 3,495 infections linked to the novel coronavirus.

According to the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), the cumulative number of coronavirus-related deaths in Pakistan has reached 13,717, with 615,810 people infected. The cumulative number of pending cases is 24,592. Coronavirus has been recovered in 577,501 individuals so far.

Punjab had the largest number of deaths from the coronavirus, with 5,896 people dying, followed by Sindh with 4,469, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 2,188, Islamabad with 531 deaths, Gilgit-Baltistan with 103, Balochistan with 202, and Azad Kashmir with 328.

After the global pandemic’s emergence in Pakistan, the total number of sick people in Islamabad has risen to 49,476, with 77,433 infections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 262,307 cases in Sindh, 19,186 cases in Punjab, 19,269 infections in Balochistan, 11,264 in Azad Kashmir, and 4,965 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Pakistan, a coronavirus vaccine program is ongoing, with people aged 60 to 69 and over 70 being vaccinated in the second phase.

Pakistan received additional 500,000 doses of the Chinese-developed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine sinopharm on Wednesday.

It was the third batch of the COVID-19 sinopharm that China had donated. Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services (NHS), got the vaccine.
