KARACHI: On the fuel crisis 2020, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded the resignation of the entire government, including the Prime Minister.
He also declared that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) ordinance will be challenged in every forum.
Bilawal Bhutto said at a press conference in Karachi that the government should immediately revoke the SBP ordinance.
“This organization is solely responsible to Pakistanis, not the International Monetary Fund (IMF). It goes against the PPP’s ideology,” Bilawal said.
“The government should immediately withdraw this ordinance and repeal it. We will challenge this illegal ordinance at every forum as it is a serious attack on Pakistan’s economic sovereignty,” he said that it will “affect every Pakistani.”
According to Bilawal Bhutto, this government lacks the capacity to serve and bargain with the IMF over the country’s economic condition, and every Pakistani today bears the brunt of their errors, setbacks, and incompetence.
He continued, “our party understands that the way this government has made its economic policy and economic agreements with the IMF is not in the interest of the country.’
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stated that as the largest opposition party in the Senate, PPP has the right to elect an opposition leader in the upper house of parliament, irrespective of the accusations of being a “selected opposition.”
He termed Pakistan’s negative economic growth as a “sad and historic failure,” noting that Pakistan’s growth rate trailed Bangladesh and war-torn Afghanistan.
