KARACHI: Today is anticipated to be “extremely hot” in Karachi, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Office, the highest temperature in the city will remain between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Over the next 24 hours, the weather will stay hot and dry.
“Hot and dry weather is forecast for most of the country’s plains. However, scattered rain-wind/thundershowers are predicted in lower Sindh, the Pothohar region, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and the surrounding areas, according to the Met Department.
Two monsoon systems are now active in the region, according to PMD Karachi Director Sardar Sarfaraz. The two systems, however, are not likely to bring rain to Karachi, he noted.
He predicted that Karachi’s weather will stay scorching until Thursday, but that the sea breeze would return on September 16.
Another low monsoon pressure system is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal on September 17, according to the PMD Karachi director.
The Met Office had already issued a heatwave warning for Karachi, predicting that the city’s weather will stay hot and humid until September 14.
“Karachi will have hot and humid weather, with a low temperature of 26°C likely and a maximum temperature of 39°C possible,” the Met Office said on Sunday.
