In a telephonic conversation with European Council President Charles Michel on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that Pakistan was willing to play a helpful role in the de-escalation of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The prime minister stressed the importance of humanitarian aid and reiterated his call for a diplomatic and dialogue-based solution.

He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “We agreed that nations such as Pakistan might help facilitate this effort. In a follow-up tweet, he said, “We agreed that countries like Pakistan could play a facilitating role in this endeavour. I look forward to close engagement to promote shared objectives.”

Moreover, the PM Office published an official statement claiming that the prime minister had received a phone call from EU President Charles Michel.

In a phone call, President Charles Michel expressed his sorrow for the loss of valuable lives in a terrorist assault on a mosque in Peshawar.

PM Imran made clear that Pakistan has cordial relations with both Russia and Ukraine, and that the two countries have kept in constant communication.

The prime minister expressed his anticipation for his upcoming trip to Brussels and extended an invitation to the EU president to visit Pakistan.
