Whatsapp Restored after Going Down in Many Countries

The most famous messaging mobile application, WhatsApp, suffered a global outage shortly before noon and was back online for some for users in many countries.

The report by outage tracker Downdetector said the app went down for a brief time before noon, with #WhatsApp the top trend on Twitter in Pakistan with more than 85,000 users talking about the outage.

Whatsapp Users complained that they were unable to send messages, the app kept showing “connecting”. However, by 2 pm some users reported that they were able to send and received messages.

According to Downdetector, the outage may have caused inconvenience to a number of users. Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from various sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.

A Meta spokesperson acknowledged and said, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.”

However, it should be noted that this was not the first time Whatsapp went down, back in 2021 major social media platforms were hit by a massive outage, causing inconvenience to millions of users.
