Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar held an unprecedented media conference alongside Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and shed light on the events surrounding Arshad’s killing.
The director general’s intelligence service and the military’s media wing addressed the journalists and questioned the events leading up to prominent journalist Arshad Sharif’s murder in Kenya. He also talked about the narrative that paved the way for an “unfortunate incident”.
Major General said that the purpose of the press conference was to ensure “facts, fiction and opinion can be differentiated”. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also informed regarding the sensitive nature of the media talk, he added.
Regretting that the army chief was also faced criticism, Lt Gen Babar said “an attempt was made to create a divide in the society.”
