Pakistan now bears the responsibility for having the most number of Hepatitis C patients in history, over 10 million.

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease which is caused by the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). It usually spreads when a person comes in contact with the blood of an infected person.

This virus spreads through the use of shared needles and equipment used to inject drugs.

China and India also fight the battle against Hepatitis C, and they are in a better position than Pakistan.

Pakistan has surpassed both India and China in terms of the spread of the Hepatitis C virus.

Pakistan has the world’s largest population of patients living with Hepatitis C virus.

Dr. Homie Rizvi is the leading epidemiologist who shared the statistics regarding the Hepatitis C situation in Pakistan.

His proposed his report in United States at the 16th annual conference of the Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases (PSSLD) in Karachi.

His study showed the statistics which suggest that 461,000 cases of Hepatitis C were recorded in 2020.

Also, at the moment, there are almost 10 million people in Pakistan who are living with the Hepatitis C virus.
