Many umrah pilgrims endured torrential rain as the holy city of Makkah received heavy rain on Friday, while many cars were carried away in floodwaters.
Several parts of Saudi Arabia received heavy rain on Friday, including Makkah, Madina, and Jeddah.
According to reports from Saudi media, the government had put emergency personnel on high alert in preparation for the recent harsh weather. Officers who were well-outfitted were ready to respond to any unfavourable circumstances.
On Friday, many vehicles accumulated on several roadways as thunderstorms pounded the city after flash floods swept them away.

However, scenes inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah’s holy city were entirely different, with visitors gladly embracing the rain.
Muslims view rain during the Hajj or Umrah as a blessing, and the water that pours from the Kaaba’s spout is revered.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had earlier in the day issued a weather alert for the holy city of Makkah.
To preserve citizens’ safety, the public was advised not to approach areas where rainfall collects, according to the city’s crisis and disaster management centre. No one was supposed to leave their houses unless absolutely essential.
In the meantime, the NCM has imposed a rain alert level to a warning in Jeddah. As Jeddah’s sky was obscured by heavy clouds, rain fell in various locations around the coastal city.
