Karachi: Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) has announced to build Pakistan’s largest Information Technology Park of worth PKR 42 Billion in Karachi.
The news was announced bgFederal Minister for IT Syed Amin-Ul-Haque in a ceremony held at the site near Karachi Airport on Monday.
The first ever IT park will make the city a gateway for innovative future. More than 20,000 IT professionals will get job opportunities after the completion of this project costing an amount of PKR 42 billion.
Speaking at the event, Amin-Ul-Haque heartily congratulated the people of Karachi,
He said MQM’s first priority has always been to launch projects of public interest.
Karachi IT Park is a big example in this connection.

The IT Park is the largest IT project of its kind in Pakistan, which will also benefit the IT professionals and companies of Sindh.
Syed Amin-Ul-Haque highlighted that the Project titled “Establishment of IT Park, Karachi” was approved by ECNEC in its meeting held on June 4, 2021 at capital cost of PKR.
41 Billion & 39 Crore (USD 186.658 Million) including PK 35 Billion 13 Crore (USD 158.416) million from Korean Exim Bank (Loan) and PSDP local share of PKR. 6 Billion 25 Crore (USD 28.242) Million. The project shall be completed in June 2026.
The Federal IT Minister extended his thanks to the entire team including the MOITT officials, Pakistan Software Export Board for the IT Park Project. He also apprecited their hard work.
The purpose of this park is to provide a place where innovative businesses could develop, provide an ample space for business development, and boost regional and national economies.
He said; Technology parks must comply with basic infrastructure requirements such as clean facilities and ample working space. However, tech parks are also equipped with the latest technology andt elecommunication facilities that make it easy to establish and manage a business.
The main objective of technology parks is to support the creation and development of knowledge-based enterprises. The range of services offered by the parks is closely linked to the functions that they have to fulfill.
The benefits of the technology parks are not limited to enterprises and tenants of the parks, but also for companies outside the parks.

IT Park Karachi will be an an eleven storeys (8 Storeys above and 3 underground) self-contained building having covered areas of 106,449 Square meters.
For the Technology park, Karachi is providing office space to approx. 225 startups and Small to Medium enterprises and other ancillary facilities like testing laboratories, Class rooms, industry academia linkage center, and auditorium etc. It shall generate more than 20,000 jobs for IT professionals.
Syed Amin-Ul-Haque further said that the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication has achieved many milestones in the last 4 years including a long list of policies.
Mentioning the projects of related to ICT and connectivity in last 4 years, he said that the MOITT by Universal Service Fund has launched 70 Projects of OFC and broadband in four provinces at a cost of PKR. 65 billion.
In province of Sindh, 20 projects of NGBSD and OFC worth PKR. 16.30 Billion has been started so far in 20 districts, including Tharparkar, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Larkana, Badin, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas and Dadu.
Syed Amin-Ul-Haque said that for the first time in Pakistan, smartphone manufacturing licenses were issued, under which 29 companies are now manufacturing smartphones and digital devices in Pakistan.
National Incubation Centers were established in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and recently in Faisalabad and Hyderabad as well.
Former Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Special Assistant to CM for IT Ms. Tanzeela Umm-Habiba, Counsel General of South Korea, Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Suhail Rajput also addressed the ceremony. China’s trade shrinks unexpectedly as Covid curbs, suffers economic slowdown
China’s economy paints a struggling picture at the moment as the country’s imports and exports get contracted.
China is still recovering from the Covid situation at home and with the recession on the way, China’s policymakers need to think a lot about their plans.
The data of the economy seems bleak as the policy makers have to deal with pandemic’s aftermath pressures and counter measures.

According to the report, China’s outbound trade reduced by 0.3% as compared to the previous year.
The trade analyst’s expected a gain of more than 5% but it was below expectations which was only 4.3%. According to them, it was the worst performance since May 2020.
The analysts also warned the economy that this condition will persist for the time being especially for the exporters.
Economist Zichun Huang says, ‘looking forward, we think exports will fall further over the coming quarters… We think that aggressive financial tightening and the drag on real incomes from high inflation will push the global economy into a recession next year.’
Mass shooting took place in Philadelphia outside a bar which left 9 people injured and wounded
According to the Philadelphia police department, the gunfire erupted around 11 pm.
The Deputy commissioner John Stanford told the press conference that ‘multiple suspects’ jumped out of their car and open fired at the crowd outside the bar.
He further added, ‘the suspects may have spotted someone that they wanted to shoot at, exited the vehicle and just began firing at the group of individuals that were there,’
9 people were wounded during this shooting massacre.
According to the police, all nine people were immediately sent to the hospital.
Out of these nine people, four people were in critical condition.
The police is further investigating the situation and trying to establish connections and motives.
The police commissioner said, ‘we’ll try to gather video and hopefully be able to get some additional information as well as video surveillance that may be able to help us identify who was responsible for this,’
Facebook parent Meta to prepare for layoffs this week as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal recently revealed a report regarding the Meta Platforms.
The reported stated that Meta platforms are considering large scale layoffs this week that will have massive effects on the employees.
In October, Meta platforms predicted that next year will be more costly for the corporation that will wipe off $67 billion of Meta’s stock market value.
This year, Meta has already lost $3 trillion in value.
Meta platforms are facing a lot of competition from other social media platforms and events such as TikTok and Apple changing policies etc.
The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg said, ‘In 2023, we’re going to focus our investments on a small number of high priority growth areas.’
He further said, ‘so that means some teams will grow meaningfully, but most other teams will stay flat or shrink over the next year.’
He added, ‘In aggregate, we expect to end 2023 as either roughly the same size, or even a slightly smaller organization than we are today.’

Hyderabad witnesses an increase in the number of dog bite cases over the period of two months.
People of Hyderabad have been complaining about the increasing number of stray dogs in their area.
They claim that with increasing number of stray dogs, dog bites cases have also increased and they feel threatened.
Citizens remain indoors due to fear that they might get mauled by the stray dogs.
There is an air of fear and restlessness among the citizens of Hyderabad, Kotri and Jamshoro.
According to the figures collected from hospitals, more than 800 people, including women and children have suffered dog bites and admitted in hospitals.
Further the figures suggest that more than 2000 people have received rabies shot during the course of two months only.

Twitter confirms that users can get access to blue tick by paying a monthly fee after Elon Musk takes over the tech giant platform.
The social media giant platform Twitter was recently taken over by tech giant Elon Musk in a closing deal of $44 billion.
After his taking over, the platform announced that users can get blue tick if they pay $7.99 for it.
Previously, blue tick was an option that was only available for celebrities, government officials, and high-profile people to avoid misleading information.
Blue-tick meant that the Twitter profile was authentic.
But now Twitter suggests that anyone who is willing to pay the fee can get access to blue tick.
Twitter suggests that the firm took this decision because of the possibility that the platform is swarming with bots and fake accounts.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif leaves for Egypt as he plans to attend the Summit on climate change.
The international Summit known as COP27 is happening in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt on coming Monday and Tuesday.
This summit deals with global warming, climate change, and measures that every nation must take to control climate change.
140 leaders from all over the world will attend this conference where they will make 5 minutes speech to address climate change and their stance on it.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will also attend this conference in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
He left for Egypt on Sunday to attend the Climate Implementation summit. He posted on Twitter saying, ‘leaving for Egypt #COP27.’
In his tweets, he also urged the world leaders to support the developing countries in their fight against climate change.
He said, ‘without financial support, the developing countries will continue to remain exposed to the multifarious threats of climate change. We are asking for climate justice.’
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also attend the summit alongside PM Shahbaz.
PM Shahbaz is scheduled to meet several world leaders during this summit.
United Nations presented in its report that there is an urgent need to address the ‘climate chaos’, in COP27
In November 2022, Egypt is hosting the 27th Conference of Parties (COP) in Sharm el-Sheikh with the goal of further taking the progress ahead and addressing the global challenge of climate change.
140 leaders from all over the world will attend this conference and speak about their nation’s stance regarding climate change.
They all will make five minutes speeches in which they will tell the listeners what they expect from the meeting.
More than 40,000 people will attend the conference.
In 2022, a Global Climate Report was released in which the scientists claim that climate change is happening on a faster rate than ever.
According to the scientists, the world temperature increased by 1.15C since pre-industrial times.
They also stated that the last years were the warmest years the world have ever witnessed.
And it is evident from the events that took place recently.
These chaotic events involve recent flooding in Pakistan and Nigeria, and extreme heat wave in India and Europe.
The secretary general of UN, Antonio Guterres said that ‘the planet is sending a distress signal.’
The COP27 President Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry called for an action and advised the world leaders that ‘It is inherent on us all in Sharm el-Sheikh to demonstrate our recognition of the magnitude of the challenges we face and our steadfast resolve to overcome it.’
The COP27 conference will take place on Monday and Tuesday.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Parvez Ilahi announced in a tweet to arrest PML-N leader, Rai Qamar because of his threatening remarks against Imran Khan.
The leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, Imran Khan was shot during his long march in Gujranwala a few days ago.
in this attack, he was shot four bullets and got injured in his leg along with his other party officials.
Rai Qamar who is former Vice Chairman of PML-N in Hafizabad said some threatening words during his address at a public event.
The video of his address got viral, due to which Parvez Ilahi took action against him.
During his address Rai Qamar said, ‘Imran Khan the instigator [fitna], the watch thief that has been verified by the courts, claims he was shot at the behest of Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.’
He further added, ‘by the grace of God, if he would order me I will show you how a fire is shot and I dare you to survive that.’
Rai Qamar didn’t stop at this. He further said, ‘I felt absolutely no sorrow over Imran being shot. I personally regretted and felt grief about the man that was martyred during the attack.’
After Qamar’s statement, CM Punjab said that, ‘Legal action will be taken against anyone who threatens Imran Khan.’

On Saturday, England entered the semi finals race rendering Sri Lanka out of the T20 tournament.

What does this ad actually mean?

Former US President Donald Trump hints at running for US President in the 2024 elections.

Karachi: Global Neighborhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) hosted a panel discussion on 3rd November, to raise voice against targeted attacks on journalists, the extrajudicial, summary, arbitrary executions, and the ultimate incursion on journalism as an institution.
GNMI is a Karachi-based nonprofit organization that organized a panel discussion, on account of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
Pakistan’s prominent journalists talked about issues that journalists face in the country.
Senior journalists and media experts graced the panel including Amber Rahim Shamsi, Director of Center for Excellence in Journalism, IBA; Faysal Aziz Khan, President of BOL News Network; Syed Masood Raza, Senior Anchor on Dunya News; Mazhar Abbas, Senior Analyst at GEO News, with Ms. Najia Ashar moderating.
On the occasion, GNMI Founder and President Najia Ashar recalled the killing of the most senior journalist Arshad Sharif, that shook the entire journalist community in Pakistan.
Najia Ashar shed light on the dilemma faced by journalists in the country. She said that every murdered journalist is reduced to just another number, one that continues increasing.
Mazhar Abbas spoke on the occasion and said “Not only should journalists comply with safety and security measures but their organizations are also responsible for the same.”
Abbas also urged journalists not to leave the country. “Fight the fight, don’t run away from the battlefield,” added he.
Faysal Aziz Khan said that training is an essential part of journalism, especially when it comes to safety and security in high-risk areas.
He recollected the attack on Hamid Mir, and said that Mir is still alive as he had the crucial training.
He further said that there should be a proper forum to combat issues concerning journalists.
Amber Rahim Shamsi said that media organizations should not send their reporters, especially female reporters, into the field unless they have sufficient resources.
Syed Masood Raza said that instead of blaming government for the lack of safety but organizations should also be held accountable to provide protection to journalists.
He added that in the face of any issue, a journalist should be confident in the support that their organization is meant to provide.
GNMI has been working for media development in Pakistan by means of media literacy, media advocacy, and media & civil society collaboration.
The organisation is struggling for the safety and empowerment of journalists.
Karachi: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has won the Best Bank Award in Asia-Pacific for 2022, on Thursday as Global Finance announced its 29th Annual Best Bank Awards.
President Joseph Giarraputo, Global Finance presented the Best Bank Award in Pakistan to NBP’s countryhead in the USA, Mr. Syed Farhan Ahmad.

Environmental psychology suggests that the physical environment affects our emotional, cognitive, and physiological states and even our social behaviour.
Sometimes we find ourselves thinking about one thing and then jumping to another.
But do you know that our surroundings have a great impact on our thoughts? Recent research showed that it is true.
This may not be obvious to us our environment plays a key role in doing that.
The research was led by Kate Schertz. The participants who lived in Chicago were taken to two different environments.
One participant was taken to “Water Tower Place mall” while the other was taken to “a beautiful indoor garden space.”
As they walked through the locations, both subjects responded to questions after every 20 minutes.
Research revealed that the participant who was taken to a beautiful indoor garden space had a more positive and exciting impact on his thoughts yet his thoughts were more focused on past events.
While the participant was taken to the mall, his thoughts were more future-oriented.
Schertz said that since malls are designed to encourage us to buy things therefore we feel more impulsive there.
Malls are actually built to encourage our buying and general impulsivity.
