Karachi: Islamabad court has reserved its verdict on PTI leader Azam Swati’s bail plea case relating to controversial tweets.
Special Judge Raja Asif of the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad heard Senator Azam Swati’s bail application, during which the FIA prosecutor said in his arguments that Azam Swati had made statements against the Army Chief on Twitter.
The plaintiff also said that the PTI leader had made an attempt to rebel against the Pakistan Army.
The FIA prosecutor said that Azam Swati blamed the army chief for the acquittal of some of the accused.
He mentioned that the army has nothing to do with an acquittal.
Azam Swati made provocative statements against the Army Chief and institutions on the public forum and has also admitted the tweets during the investigation, said the FIA prosecutor.
Meanwhile, Azam Swati’s lawyer, Babar Awan argued that his client exercised his constitutional right to freedom of expression by tweeting.
Babar Awan also claimed before the court that Azam Swati was tortured and humiliated while in custody.
“Was there a rebellion in the army after Azam Swati’s tweet?” he asked. “Did any subedar run away after Azam Swati’s tweet? Captain resigned.”
However, the court reserved the verdict which will be announced tomorrow.

The Chief Minister has demanded the federal government to supply 1 million tons of wheat, while in the letter, he has requested an immediate supply of 300,000 metric tons of wheat to Punjab.
On the other hand, former federal minister Moonis Elahi has confirmed that a letter has been written to the federation on the issue of wheat.
Moonis Elahi said that the federal government under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif is oppressing the people of Punjab, the federal government has refused to give us its share in wheat and is not even allowing us to import wheat.
The former minister said that the wheat crisis is being artificially created in Punjab, and the aim of writing the letter is to bring it into the federation’s knowledge and make it aware of the unfair distribution.
The Punjab government has written the first letter on June 18, the second on September 19 and the third on October 4 to the concerned institutions on the issue of wheat.
Karachi: Our beloved Pakistan owes its freedom equally to the struggles, help, and guidance of its remarkable women.
From the mother-of-the-nation, Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah to the Iron lady Begum Rana Liaquat Ali, all contributed to their capacity and helped the leadership to carve the way to an independent nation, today we call Pakistan.
It was because of them that women were encouraged, motivated, and inspired to work together. Begum Rana Liaquat started the All Pakistan Women Association (APWA), right after the independence, to help the female refugees from Pakistan and to empower them and facilitate them in earning independently.
Pakistan has always been at the forefront of producing women leaders in every sphere of life, be it the first female prime minister of the Islamic world, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Dr Fahmida Mirza as the first female speaker, Dr Shama Khalid as the Governor GB, Shamshad Akhtar as the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, and Lt.Gen Nigar Johar, the first lady to hold 3-stars on her uniform.
Continuing the legacy of the great women at leadership positions enters, Humaira Farooqui, from the new generation of educated, tech-savvy, globally connected but locally committed entrepreneurs.
She is the CEO of Hijabi.pk, a modest lifestyle brand of cultural and religious attire, available anywhere on just a click.
She is a strong believer on empowering women, and has been using her outreach to support and strengthen the empowered women of our society, by inviting and sharing their remarkable stories with help of the digital world, which, like a ripple effect, impacts our society in various ways. To some, it’s like a moral aid, nourishment for young minds, motivation for those hesitant, and an overall solidarity with all women in society.
One of the story of this series ‘woman of substance’ featured; Alisha Jameel, a teenage female rickshaw driver who stood against the societal norms to provide for her family after the tragic death of her father. Alisha narrated that she is the youngest daughter of all the six sisters and it all started when her father (late) was very sick.
He bought her a rickshaw, trusting her, even without his presence, that she would be strong enough to be the only bread winner of the family. It has always been her wish to drive a vehicle, to own her vehicle and make use of it. Her father taught her to drive and now she has a rickshaw for her daily livelihood to support herself and her family.
“It has not been easy. It was entirely a new experience in her life.” She quotes; “Although I only take passengers who are near my own area, I still meet new people every day. A lot of people are surprised to look at a girl in the rickshaw driver’s seat.
Sometimes they ask whether I can actually handle the rickshaw or not. Some people can’t seem to understand my necessity to do what I am now doing as a proper profession. They tell me to choose a better career, or any other better means of income, but it’s not so easy to actually do that.
Everyone makes the most of what their resources allow, and mine happens to be a rickshaw. On the other hand, many people are happy to see me doing something very good yet uncommon in our society. They encourage my reasons, and often say beautiful duas for me, which always makes my day.
The daily chaos of the city with its fluctuating weather, is always an uplifting mood on days when the passengers appreciate me for basically being ‘the son of family’ to my own.”
She added further that aside from the passengers, the police and the government have been very understanding. They respect her work when they come across her on the streets.
With the snippets of her story going viral on the internet, the government announced a house for her, for which she felt very blessed.
She never thought that her hard work to support her family would bear its fruits so quickly. She is currently in contact with them, hoping for the best.
Alisha shares that her aim is to be capable enough to support her family. She believes that depending on others is not an option for her and she will work hard because currently she is the only one who can take care of her younger sister and her aged mother.
Just because of the lack of a male figure in our house doesn’t mean she will be helpless.
Islamabad court on Friday ordered the capital police to present the record in PTI leader Shahbaz Gill’s sedition case before the court on Saturday.
Shahbaz Gill was arrested on charges of sedition and inciting mutiny in the army. He had approached the sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday for post-arrest bail till the disposal of the case.
Additional Districts and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Supra asked about the investigation officer, as the sessions court took up his plea for bail, and inquired if the officer did not get the court notice for appearing.
A sub-inspector of the capital police team told the that the officer was in Karachi and would leave for Islamabad. “It would take some time to reach the court.” The judge responded that the officer must appear within a couple of hours. The judge warned that a senior superintendent of police and Islamabad inspector general will be summoned if the record was not produced within the given time.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said more than 900 people had died since June – including 34 in the past 24 hours.
Heavy rains continued to wreak havoc in several parts of the country, already battered by calamitous floods that left millions dead and caused epic destruction in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh provinces.
Heavy rains continued for the second consecutive day, which triggered devastating floods in rivers and streams. It also swept away several homes and hotels. Scores of people died in K-P while Balochistan remained cut off from the rest of the country due to fresh rains.
The K-P government declared a rain emergency in several districts as torrential rains triggered floods and wreaked havoc in most parts of the province, at least 238 people lost their lives, officials said.
Officials also informed that the rain emergency will remain in place till August 30 as the Pakistan Meteorological Department predict another monsoon spell which might continue in the next week.
Fresh torrential rains hit many parts of the province on the second day. According to officials, heavy downpours in Kaghan Valley caused a flash flood in the Munnawar Nullah that effaced 10 people.
The rescuers found seven bodies so far. Numerous stores, hotels, more than 200 fish hatcheries, 150 homes, and two mosques in the tourist destinations of Kalam, Bahrain Bazaar, Hareen, and Madyan were destroyed by floods.
The roads are flooded, and plastic waste has poured out of sewage pipes. Large pools of dirty water have swallowed homes, roads, and people.
The situation has left residents worried that the standing water will bring waterborne diseases with it. There’s been little respite for communities, as the rain continued for almost a week, hoping to return home to see what could be recovered.
The floods have taken more than 300 lives in Sindh province alone.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that 33 million people had become victims of floods, which is around 15% of the population.
PM Sharif has appealed for international aid and held a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Islamabad.
At least 184,000 people have been displaced to relief camps, according to the UN’s disaster relief agency, OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs). It also said that southern Pakistan has been hardest hit by the rains – particularly Sindh, which has received nearly eight times its average August rainfall.

Many people find marriage to be a source of great joy, but it also comes with significant challenges. The way a couple handles them often determines whether or not their relationship will last. Maintaining a long-term relationship may include one or both partners letting go of erroneous beliefs or unhealthy habits.
It should also be kept in mind that trying to change your significant other might do more harm than good if your spouse wants to change themselves. Marriage brings about a big change in couples’ lives. It affects both partners but with time both become less agreeable.
Signs of a happy marriage
According to researchers, John Gottman and Julie Schwartz Gottman, the way spouses talk about each other reveals the state of their relationship. They take pleasure in overcoming obstacles rather than focussing on their issues. They specifically refer to each other warmly; use “we” rather than “I” when speaking about their relationship; and express pride in conquering obstacles rather than dwelling on their problems.
How to keep a marriage happy?
Well, needless to say, after the first few years of marriage, most couples see a general drop in satisfaction. According to a study, those who stay together have some habits in common. They act as if they’re still dating; they focus on each other’s excellent qualities; they express pleasure; and, rather than blaming each other, they acknowledge that external demands may be causing them stress.
However, there are things that couples do and they do not realise how much hurt their spouse may feel. But if we you become more careful about it then you could live a happy life.
Never Hesitate to Apologize
Well, no one likes admitting they’ve made a mistake. This is especially true for men, whose pride can make saying “I’m sorry” difficult. The thing is, when two people live together for an extended period of time, they are bound to say and do things that are hurtful to one another. Holding on to pride and being hesitant to apologise simply adds to the problem. It’s as if you’re ok with the notion that your words or actions have caused her pain.
Never stop doing little things
Do you remember putting lots of effort before marriage when you wanted to marry the person and did lots of little things to show your love for him or her? Perhaps you bought them flowers, or sent a card or left an “I miss you” message. As the years have gone chances are you’ve stopped doing some or all these things. The danger here is that it can leave your spouse feeling like you take them for granted.
Never Stop Noticing the Difference
Your spouse contributes a lot on a daily basis to your life. When it comes to your wife, she undoubtedly goes the extra mile to do housework. She spends a lot of time at home with the kids and maintaining the home. Sadly, she doesn’t get paid for what she does. This takes a lot of energy and mental pressure. She cooks, does chores, looks after kids, and manages everything at home. However, making sure that her efforts are recognised and appreciated can be quite rewarding.
Well, that goes for a wife too, she needs to appreciate all the little things her husband does for her when he is out working hard to provide her with a better lifestyle. Most of women do not realise what their husband goes through at their workplace. So, if he seems tired from all the work, just some words of appreciation and affection may not harm.
Conclusion
There are things in marriage that warn us that some issues need to be addressed. Regretfully, we often don’t recognise problems or feel unable to solve them because we lack the necessary energy, tools, or motivation. However, if left unaddressed, even minor issues can quickly escalate into major problems in a marriage. Before it’s too late, we must learn to recognise and respond to these signals.
After the Kremlin banned Instagram, a group of Russian developers is planning to establish their own version of the social networking platform.
The app, named Rossgram, was just disclosed ahead of its planned investor launch on March 28th, and it’s quite clear where the inspiration originated from.
According to photographs on Rossgram’s website, the programme is remarkably identical to Instagram in terms of style and symbols, even down to the pink and orange logo.
Rossgram, meanwhile, doesn’t shy away from the parallels, portraying itself as a “new social network with a recognisable and intuitive layout, numerous functionality, and simple working circumstances.”
In a post about the popular Russian messaging app VK, co-founder Alexander Zobov said his team of developers were “ready for this turn of events and decided not to miss the opportunity to create a Russian analogue of a popular social network beloved by our compatriots,” adding that they were “ready for this turn of events and decided not to miss the opportunity to create a Russian analogue of a popular social network beloved by our compatriots.”
The app will be available to investors, sponsors, and the media next week, before being made available to influencers and bloggers at a later date to be determined.
The move comes after the Kremlin banned Instagram in Russia, widely interpreted as an attempt to prevent Russian residents from seeing information about the Ukraine conflict.
A Russian court upheld Facebook and Instagram’s bans on Tuesday, finding parent corporation Meta guilty of ‘extremist behaviour.’
Instagram was one of the most popular social media platforms in Russia, with many influencers and company owners relying on it for income.
After the announcement that the app will be prohibited on March 14, a number of bloggers sent heartbreaking notes to their accounts, asking why they were being removed.
Olga Buzova, one of Russia’s top reality TV stars, told her 23.3 million followers in a video: “This is not merely a job for me; it is a part of my soul. It feels as if a large portion of my heart and life are being ripped from me.”
ISLAMABAD: The nation is commemorating Pakistan Day today with a pledge to safeguard the country’s growth, prosperity, and strong defence.
The day was marked, as it does every year, to remember the passing of the momentous Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, under which Muslims of the subcontinent established the agenda for a separate country.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the regional capitals.
Today, three wings of the armed services demonstrated their expertise and military power during the stunning and colourful Pakistan Day Military Parade on Parade Avenue in Islamabad.
The resolution day’s ceremony began with the fly past of fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force while Pakistan Navy led by Air Chief Zaheer Ahmad Babar. They presented salute to the chief guest President Dr. Arif Alvi.
Formations of fighter jets like J-10C, F-16, Mirage and P-3C took part in the fly past.
The Pakistan Day procession included distinguished visitors from the OIC-CFM, including Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Contingents of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as Special Services Groups, Frontier Corps, Rangers, and Islamabad police, marched by the dais, saluting the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, had a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II this week.
The Prime Minister, who arrived in the United Kingdom amid Russia’s continuing war against Ukraine, paid a special visit to Her Majesty shortly after her COVID-19 recovery.
Mr Trudeau was seen welcoming the Queen as he reached forward to gently clasp her hand in images shared on the royal family’s official Twitter and Instagram sites. However, the politician neglected to put on his mask, which was widely mocked by Britons, including Piers Morgan.
Morgan took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Why on earth would @JustinTrudeau wear a mask to meet @Keir_Starmer but not the Queen? Preposterous.”
Others joined the former GMB host in mocking the Prime Minister. Why is Trudeau wearing a mask for his meeting with Keir Starmer, but not for his meeting with the Queen, 95? “tweeted former Brexit Party MEP Martin Daubney.
Nick Timothy, a columnist, added: “Is Trudeau unconcerned with the Queen’s well-being? Is it possible that the masks are just for show?”
Mr Johnson and his Dutch colleague Mark Rutte met in the United Kingdom to discuss the Russian incursion.
While tensions rise worldwide, Apple unveiled the low-cost iPhone SE and the new iPad Air at its inaugural event in 2022.
During a videotaped speech that was aired live on Tuesday, Apple introduced the new $429 iPhone SE. It’s one of a slew of new features released by the firm.
The next iPhone SE will support 5G, featuring a faster processor, and will be the final iPhone with a home button and fingerprint sensor. A new iPad Air, Mac Studio desktop computer, and 27-inch display were also announced by Apple.
During the epidemic, Apple changed its in-person events to video, and although offices progressively reopened, the firm is sticking with the model for the time being. The sophisticated but oddly muted launch comes at an awkward time for Apple and the IT industry in the United States.
In response to worldwide criticism, the company ceased selling its goods in Russia last week and curtailed its Apple Pay service in the country. According to market research company IDC, Apple is the country’s third-largest smartphone maker, after Samsung and Xiaomi.
Although it may not appear to be all that thrilling, Apple’s low-cost $429 iPhone SE has just received some fascinating internal changes. For the first time, the company’s most affordable smartphone supports 5G networks, including the ones that caused aviation officials’ concerns in January.
Perhaps more crucial is Apple’s decision to employ the same fast A15 Bionic CPU found in the company’s most costly smartphones in the SE model, which stands for “special edition.” That’s unusual for a phone that costs less than $500, but it does come with some drawbacks.
The iPhone SE is a little more expensive than before and has a smaller, less detailed screen than the Galaxy S21 FE and the Pixel 6. To the chagrin of photographers, it has just one rear camera.
In March, the model, who had been preoccupied with Paris Fashion Week for the previous months, announced on her Instagram Stories that she would be donating all of her earnings to the cause of Ukraine.
Gigi Hadid wrote in a post on her Instagram account, “I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine,”
She further said, “Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the the [sic] end of the day, innocent lives pay for war- not leaders. HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE.”
Shortly after her post and comments on Ukraine, she started receiving a lot of hate from her fans, especially those who are Jewish.
One of her furious fans tweeted,”When Israel is painted as oppressive, Jews all over the world pay the price. Numbers don’t lie: anti-Israel messaging leads directly to antisemitic attacks globally.”
another fan added, “I stand against all suffering, BUT false equivalents DONT help,”
Star Emmanuelle Chriqui commented, “I can’t believe @voguemagazine is supporting this false and dangerous narrative..’experiencing the same in Palestine’ well done @voguemagazine fanning the flames of anti semitism.”

KARACHI: Aleem Khan, a former senior minister in Punjab, has joined Jahangir Khan Tareen’s PTI group in order to “save” the party after “loyalists” were marginalised following Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ascension to office.
Aleem, who resigned as a Punjab government minister in November of last year, told the media on Monday that he and his “like-minded” supporters had joined the Tareen group to “strengthen the party.”
PML-Q senior leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi, on the other hand, has alerted the PTI-led government that it was “fast losing control” over the political situation as opposition parties were claiming that they had achieved the support of enough lawmakers required to de-seat Prime Minister Imran through a no-confidence vote.
Sources informed on Monday that he made the statements in a meeting with Punjab government officials, when he urged its coalition partner, PTI, that “major political choices” were urgently needed.
