Inflation has been steadily declining for the past 4 weeks: Finance Ministry

Karachi: The Finance Ministry, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, says that the rate of inflation has been steadily declining for the last four weeks.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, a meeting of the National Monitoring Committee chaired by Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh has taken notice of the increased prices of eggs and edible ghee.

The National Price Monitoring Committee headed by Hafeez Sheikh was informed that prices of essential food items have declined by 0.22% while inflation has been steadily declining in the last four weeks.

Moreover, the prices of wheat, tomatoes, onions, and potatoes have dropped significantly.

According to the statement, the Secretary of Commerce has been asked to hold a meeting with the representatives of the provincial governments and FBR so that further steps could be taken in this regard.

The finance minister said that the provincial governments should closely monitor the prices.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Food Security also gave a briefing on the current situation of wheat and sugar reserves.
