KARACHI: The election tribunal disqualifies MQM Pakistan leader Rauf Siddiqui from contesting Senate elections on Monday.
Election tribunal rejects MQM Pakistan leader Rauf Siddiqui’s appeal against returning officer’s decision as Siddiqui’s lawyers could not satisfy the Election Tribunal, which upheld the decision of the Returning Officer (RO).
It should be noted that the RO had rejected the nomination papers of Rauf Siddiqui for the Senate elections.
The Returning Officer objected that Rauf Siddiqui was not 16 years old while Rauf Siddiqui had challenged the decision of the Returning Officer in the High Court.
The Election Tribunal also rejected the appeal of MQM Pakistan’s Khizr Zaidi for the technocrat seat in the Senate elections and upheld the Returning Officer’s decision to reject the nomination papers.
