In Pakistan’s history, Imran Khan is the second prime minister seek to the National Assembly for a ‘voluntary’ vote of confidence.

Before Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, in 1993, first sought the Parliament for a voluntary vote of confidence following his reinstatement by the Supreme Court

Following the events that took place on 3 March, when government candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheik lost to opposition candidate Yousuf Raza Gillani in the Senate race for the general seat of Islamabad, the Prime Minister declared on his own that he would request a vote of confidence from the Parliament—a daring decision that caused shock waves around the country.
