The step highlights growing problems between Moscow and Washington, as Biden has taken a more confrontational approach to Russian President Vladimir Putin than his predecessor, Donald Trump.

A spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that the reason why US relations are in such a bad way is that the US has backed them into a dead end. She also warned that worsening relations could be a risk.

According to sources in the media, Russia took this action in response to US Vice President Joe Biden’s interview with American news channel ABC.

During the interview, Joe Biden said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will face the repercussions of orchestrating Trump’s victory in the 2020 US presidential election.

In a statement, Russia flatly dismissed the accusations, saying, “Similar, unfounded allegations concerning Russia’s intelligence have been made more than once.”

Dmitry Peskov, Russia’s presidential spokesman, said in a statement that the claims were unfounded and would exacerbate bilateral tensions.

Anatoly Antonov has been invited to Moscow for talks on the prospects of Russia-US ties, according to Russia’s foreign ministry.

The statement went on to say that ties with the US are at a crossroads and that the ambassador’s recall was necessary to avoid irreparable harm to bilateral relations.

Moscow has given a threatening statement since it is considered a personal insult against Vladimir Putin, in a country where untouchable, according to sources Putin’s critics often level accusations at the kremlin or government but not personally.
