KARACHI: Haseena Moin, a well-known dramatist and writer, died early Friday morning in Karachi. She was 80 years old. For the past two years, the prolific author has been fighting cancer.

The writer’s funeral will be held after Asr prayer at her home in North Nazimabad.

Moin is one of Pakistan’s most well-known playwrights and scriptwriters, with a slew of awards to her name.

Among them is the Government’s Pride of Performance award for her contributions to the country’s performing arts. In the early 1970s, she also had the distinction of writing Pakistan’s first original script, Kiran Kahani.

Dhoop Kinary, Ankhai, Tanhaiyan, Ahat, Ansoo, and several others are among her best television dramas.
