China is facing nationwide protests because of coronavirus curbs but that resulted in record-high Covid cases

China records 31,000 new Covid cases with 3000 people who are showing symptoms.

The report suggests that this increase in Covid cases is due to the protests that have been happening all over China against the Covid restrictions and lockdowns.

Demonstrators gathered in Shanghai to protest against Xi Jinping’s government because of its zero-Covid policies. A report by BBC mentioned that police arrested a journalist that was covering the protests and then released him several hours later.

Beijing also witnessed protests in different areas where protestors shouted that they want freedom from covid restrictions.

The protests intensified after the residential fire in Urumqi area, in which 10 people died.

Citizens blamed lockdown and Covid restrictions for this incident and started protesting against the government.

However, the Covid cases are on the rise again and government will have no choice but to put restrictions all over again.
